Your McAlpine PTO

Don't forget to donate to the Everyone Counts Campaign, our largest (and EASIEST) fundraiser of the year!

Visit www.mcalpinepto.org/funding
and look for the Everyone Counts Campaign section. You will be provided with directions and links there to make your online donation using your Pay4SchoolStuff.com account or PayPal.

100% of your donation stays at McAlpine, and is tax deductible.  Check to see if your employer will make a matching donation!  Through the ECC, every single donation, no matter how large or small, is an opportunity to invest in the McAlpine community and your child's future!
Below is the link for last Wednesday's McAlpine's Curriculum Town Hall meeting. There are lots of great links included in the slide deck for easy reference.

News from the Media Center

Are you ready for a good book?  Do you miss having a book you can take anywhere without being connected to a device?  Mrs. Lockso is checking out books from the McAlpine Media Center.  Read on for very easy directions.  You can log in to Follett Destiny through NCEDCLOUD and place holds on books OR you can use the attached link to fill out a form.  Mrs. Lockso will check out the books and you can pick them up at the front door by the office every Friday from 8:45-9:30 and 1:30-2:30. Students can check out up to four books at a time and keep them for three weeks. Just click on the link below. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Lockso at kristina.lockso@cms.k12.nc.us.

Check out books here!
SORA Online Resource Tip
Sometimes students want to sort out the books that are checked out from what is available now.  Here is how you do that.  On your Explore page, click on preferences at the left side of the screen.  Choose “available books” instead of “everything”.  Then click “Apply”.  This will only show books that you can check out right away.  Don’t forget to change your preferences back to “everything” when you are done.

McAlpine's School Improvement Team is looking for additional members to join the team. If you live in the areas of Rock Creek Apartments, The Retreat, Canopy or any of the neighborhoods along Ballantyne Commons Pkwy., please contact Mrs. Modine, dina.modine@cms.k12.nc.us to express your interest in this opportunity.

The School Improvement Team meets once a month for about one hour. The SIT consists of some McAlpine staff members and a handful of parents. It’s a great opportunity to share your perspective, and is not a big time commitment!

Login to your Pay4SchoolStuff account, select your student, and look for the McAlpine House Shirts section. Sizes Youth XS - Adult XL, limited quantities available.
Come out on Friday, September 25th for Kona Ice and to support the McAlpine PTO! The truck will be making 4 (45 minute) stops, so join your McAlpine friends at whichever one is convenient for you. We hope to see you there!

The specials area team (art, media, music, and PE) has a newsletter!  This contains media updates, weekly materials needed for art, etc. Click below to access this week's newsletter.
