PARENTS, IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED YOUR MANDATORY PARENT VUE PACKET, PLEASE LOG INTO PARENT VUE AND COMPLETE THE PACKET A.S.A.P.  WE HAVE SENT OUT MORE THAN 7 REMINDERS TO GET THIS DONE. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE IF YOU COMPLETED THIS PACKET JUST CALL 480-484-7100 AND WE CAN CHECK. 

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPLETE THE PARENT VUE PACKET:
  1. Use a computer not a phone app
  2. Log on Saguaro website susd.org/saguaro
  3. Click on icon ParentVue/StudentVue – choose parent vue
  4. Log-in using your credentials - if you do not have a ParentVue account call Linda Chapple at 480-484-7105
  5. Once logged into ParentVue – top right hand corner click on “ online registration tab”
  6. Click on drop down bar and choose 1st choice “annual verification – current student”.  This step is very important please choose the correct packet. 
  7. Follow along complete and submit the packet.

CLASS T-SHIRTS - $ DONATIONS NEEDED!
In anticipation of kids returning to campus soon, we want to make sure to welcome everyone and have a strong sense of connectivity. The student services office is requesting donations for student class t-shirts. We would like every student on our campus to receive a class t-shirt to be worn the first week back. If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to Kandie Donda and specify which class you would like to receive the donation.

News from Matt Harris, Athletic Director

*Congratulations to Saguaro Cheerleaders Blayke HammerMady Micklos and Jade Nielsen on the distinction of being selected to the UCA Hall of Fame this past week.  *Badminton started their season with a tough 8-1 loss to Deer Valley; Jaya Hima won her matches 21-12/21-17.  *Our boys golf team continues to excel improving to 9-1 on the season.  In their last match, Jack Johnson, Barrett Bowers, Henry Shepard all shot 37, and Will Slessman added a 38 to help the team to a season low of 149 defeating Marcos de Niza and St. Mary’s last Thursday.  *Last Saturday, our Cross Country team opened the season at the Chandler Invitational.  Ethan Rodriguez-Story finished 2nd overall (out of 368 runners) running a 5k in 15:26.   In addition, our junior girls (Mary Evans, Lucy Hebert, Unique Zuniga, and Isabella Smith) finished 2nd in their division.  *This week our girls volleyball team will open the season with a road trip to Poston Butte on Tuesday before hosting a home opener vs. Seton Catholic on Thursday, September 24th which will also be Senior Night. *Our Swim & Dive team will open up the season Thursday with a meet vs. Coronado and Arcadia at Eldorado Pool.  *Varsity Football has a scrimmage this Thursday at Higley at 6:00pm and will officially open their season with a home game October 2nd vs. Chaparral.

SUSD has implemented a Home Game Spectator Policy for all Sports on Campus.  Currently, only parents of participants and Saguaro faculty will be allowed to attend home game competitions.  Our athletic director and coaches will communicate to parents how they can purchase a season pass for all home events.  Important, all sport participation fees must be paid before season passes can be purchased. 
 
Attention Fall Student-Athletes and Parents:   Athletic Participation Fees are due for all fall sports.   You can pay for your fees online at: touchbase.susd.org (Follow the instructions given on Touch Base), or you can mail a check to Saguaro HS – ATTN: Bookstore and include your student’s name/sport in the memo.   If you child is on free or reduced lunch, please provide a copy of the letter from Food Services and email it to dianejohnston@susd.org.  Important:  Fees must be collected prior to the first match/game for students to be eligible.

TEACHER OF THE WEEK!
Mr. Joe Muecke graduated from Northern Arizona University with Bachelors in Science of Elementary Education, as well as a Masters in Cross-Categorical Special Education. He has been teaching Special Education for the past eleven years in Scottsdale, and going into his seventh year teaching Special Education at Saguaro High School. In 2012, Mr. Muecke was named Teacher of the Year in Arizona, working with students with disabilities.

Coach Muecke has also been involved with Saguaro Baseball for fourteen seasons, part of two state championships and earned AIA (4A - 6A) Coach of the Year in 2018. Coach Muecke is going into his 8th year as Head Varsity Baseball Coach.

Guidance Counseling 

AP Exam Registration/Payment is now open and the deadline to pay is October 2nd.  The cost per exam is $95.  Please make your payment by credit card online (instructions on how to pay are listed below).  Exam Registration payments that are made after October 2nd will incur an additional $55 late fee per exam.  Please email Mrs. Wittwer (AP Exam Coordinator) at dwittwer@susd.org if you have questions or need financial assistance.  Thank you!
 
Paying for AP Tests Online (Non-Tax Credit)
Go to the Saguaro website from the SUSD webpage (susd.org/saguaro)
Select “Online Payments”
Click on “Fees and Athletics”
User name (Student ID Number)
Password (Student’s last name- Capitalize 1st letter)
Click on student name tab
Under “Make a Purchase”, click on “Items at Student’s School:  Registration Payment”
Next to “Categories”, click on “Fees and Club Activities” (in blue)
Click on “AP Exams (Non- Tax Credit)”
Select items + buy (you will need to “buy” each exam you plan to take)
Follow prompts to check out
 
Paying for AP Tests Online (Tax Credit)
Go to the Saguaro website from the SUSD webpage (susd.org/saguaro)
Select “Online Payments”
Click on “Tax Credit”
Under “School” Select “Saguaro High School”
Under “Item” Select the name of the AP exam you wish to put tax credit funds towards (you will need to do a separate form for each exam you wish to put tax credit funds towards, up to the entire allowable amount)
Under “Memo/Student Name” type in the name of the student you wish to put tax credit funds towards
Choose an amount of money to put towards the tax credit/exam fees (you will need to do a separate form for each exam you wish to put tax credit funds towards, up to the entire allowable amount)
