First a nod of thanks to everyone who’s visited the Monkey’s Paw in the past three months: we love to see passionate bibliophiles engaged in the venerable ritual of browsing the shelves.

Haven't been back in a while? You’ll find that the physical act of book-hunting provides a welcome sense of discovery and renewal. The Monkey’s Paw is a calm, spacious, and airy venue, better organized and more richly stocked than ever. No end of curiosities to ignite your imagination.

Our shop at 1067 Bloor W. is currently open noon-5pm, six days a week (closed Mondays). If those hours aren’t convenient, let us know, and we’ll try to accommodate you by appointment.

Bring Your Own Home Movies,
Display Window Edition:
Sunday, Sept. 20, 7:30pm
(rain date: Sept. 27)

This year, the annual event moves its magic from the shop to the street. Films will be projected onto the front window of the Monkey’s Paw, so home movie enthusiasts can watch from the sidewalk outside.

Toronto’s own Home Movie History Project will show movies belonging to the public, as well as a selection of delights from its vast archive. If you have 8mm movies you’d like to see projected, please bring them on Sunday, or drop them off in advance at the Monkey’s Paw.

No collection is too large or too small: we’re happy to consider any worthy books or pamphlets printed prior to the digital age (ca. 1980s or earlier).
