A note from Damien

Kia ora Koutou,

It's hard to believe that this is the last Pipeline for the term!   It has certainly been an unusual one with changing levels for COVID.  I'd like to thank you all for your support and patience with this.  We have all stayed safe and our Mounties have been their normal, awesome selves.

Special thanks to our team here for their commitment and hard work this term, planning for distance learning while still keeping learning at school happening.

Have a safe holiday and we'll see you all back safe again next term.

Nicali, Ben, Warren, Sarah, Leigh, Juliet, Damien

We are keen to hear from any families or businesses who would like to help support our school pool improvement project so it is ready in time for summer.

Thanks to the generosity of those who have already donated money, we have raised nearly half the $20,000 required to sandblast, paint, heat and cover the school pool.  We are so grateful for community support as we are unlikely to receive any funding from the MOE for this valuable asset and yet it is so important our students continue to get the opportunity to swim and learn water safety at school, given our location.
Any family or business who donates a minimum of $500 will have their name or logo displayed on a sponsors board near the pool.

If you would like to support this project please email either Dave from D&B Construction dave@dandb.co.nz or Leigh from the Board leighs@mtprimary.school.nz

The next Board meeting will be in the staffroom
on Thursday 24th September at 6pm

Big thanks to John van den Broek who captured these images for us to use on our social media and showcase our awesome new turf!

Ko tēnei te wiki o Te Reo Māori!
This week is Māori language week!

Our tamariki have had lots of fun practicing some of the kupu hou (new words) and waiata (songs) they have learnt in class. Ask your Mounties to teach you what they’ve learnt at home!

We have been giving out tickets to everyone who gives speaking Te Reo a go, and the house with the most tickets will be rewarded with an extra long lunchtime! We also, as a whole school, participated in the nationwide event of only speaking Te Reo for half an hour on Monday. It was an awesome challenge for our Mounties!

Kīwaha you can try using at home:

Whetu Toa! (Super star!)
Koia Koia! (Well done!)
Mauri ora! (Fantastic!)
Miharo Rawa! (Amazing!)
Autaia tonu! (Extraordinary!)

Room 17 being part of the 1 million Te Reo speakers on Monday between 12 - 12.30.
Playing shoot out in Te Reo.

Hello Sports Fans

What a crazy winter sporting season it has been with the impact of COVID 19 taking its toll in various ways on our sports codes.  Our netball girls have only managed to play 3 games over the season and our hockey and basketball teams have continued to play, but without spectators.  I would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing coaches and managers of our teams who have continued to provide support and encouragement to our Mounties throughout these difficult times.

Another casualty of COVID has been our School Cross Country. Unfortunately, even though we have tried to reschedule this, we have found time restrictions have just not allowed for it.  However, with all our teams participating in athletics in Term 4, we will be ensuring our children are participating in distance running for this code.

Check out the Community Notice Board section for more out of school sports opportunities!
