And just like that, it's September! We hope you are keeping safe and well.

Whilst this month sees the welcome return of spring and the end of another challenging school term in Victoria, we're super excited that September is also the month that our young entrepreneurs submit their pitches for their Big Idea To Positively Change Their World!

If these past few months have taught us anything, it's been a clear demonstration for the need to be innovative - and there's never been a more important time for us to continue to deliver the Upstart mission. All around us we're seeing fantastic examples of innovation, and we're continuing to develop new and effective ways to communicate with our communities.

Learning to be resilient and able to adapt to these new ways of working is going to make our communities stronger for local, regional and global prosperity. And what better place to start than by embedding these vital skills in to our young changemakers!

Ballarat Upstart Challenge - It's Time To Pitch!

Our young entrepreneurs are continuing to learn new skills and traits and using them to create opportunities in these challenging times. They are working hard to develop their winning pitches and will submitting them to the judging panel next week!

Upstart has a new challenge for Geelong Schools in 2021!

Teachers of Geelong - we've designed a program that's going to assist you in teaching innovative and engaging enterprise skills to your students, and that's mapped to the Australian curriculum.

Our exciting online program maintains our same immersive and hands-on learning methodologies, and has been designed for you, the teacher, to take your whole class on an entrepreneurial journey. STEM & Entrepreneurship with Deakin

Upstart are once again delighted to be collaborating with Deakin on their STEM and Entrepreneurship in Primary Schools Program (SEPS), a professional learning program which provides teachers with core understandings of STEM and Entrepreneurship education in primary years.

Through our interactive workshop in October, we’ll be assisting teachers to understand their role as leaders of change in their school communities and explore influencing communication strategies to help build an understanding of the value of entrepreneurship in schools.

Ballarat Youth Awards

Tomorrow (Friday, 18th Sept) the City of Ballarat Youth Awards will be hosted in a virtual ceremony for the first time in their 15-year history!

78 of Ballarat's young people and ally workers have been nominated across 10 categories this year, highlighting and celebrating the impact of youth in our community, ranging from the arts to sports, entrepreneurship, community group initiatives, and volunteer recognition.

Everyone can join in from home, as the ceremony will be livestreamed from 7pm on their Facebook Page: facebook.com/ballaratyouthservices.

Celebrating Diverseability

Workability is an inspiring series of videos providing students with diverseabilities and their families a chance to hear directly from people with diverseabilities who share their aspirations and their career journeys.

In each video you will hear different tips and advice to help students learn about navigating job interviews, starting a new job, how they tell others about their strengths and abilities. Most of all it will give students with diverseabilities an understanding of what is possible!

Sharing The (Local) Love 💖

Humans in Geelong: Be blown away by the amazing, inspirational, creative locals in our community who are making a difference! Humans in Geelong's FREE Online Expo will premiere on 11th October and will feature video clips from a number of Geelong's changemakers. The expo will also be our region’s uplifting start to Mental Health Month 2020. Find out more here.
