Hi everyone,

How are you all doing?

Here at EBCF HQ, we are excited to see ideas coming together.  We promise to curate a special festival for you, different from the rest, with an exciting line-up.  The delivery might be different to previous years but the quality, as ever, will be the same.

So...... Save the Date - March 5th - 7th 2021, Ennis Book Club Festival

Are you in a book club and have a reading suggestion you'd like to share?  Please send it on and we can share it with our audience.

If you have recently changed your email address, you can update your subscription with the link at the bottom of the page.

Below, we share a few things that we've enjoyed in recent weeks.

As always, thank you for your continued support, it means a lot.

Happy reading,

EBCF Committee

"Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation.  They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life:  they feed the soul.  When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored.  We are given a shot at dancing with, or at leas clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again.  It's like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea.  You can't stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship"

Culture Night 2020:

This Friday is Culture Night, there is so much on offer both online and offline.  There is a beautiful art display in Ennis at the moment for you to enjoy as you walk around.  Details of the Clare events are available by clicking
HERE.

Sing to Connect

At this years festival, Maria Wood brought over 50 people together to sing.  Guests of the hotel en route to the breakfast buffet (remember those) took a detour to stand outside and listen to the magical sound.  Thankfully for us, Maria has continued to hold lessons and different workshops online.  Check out a video from the day on her hompage.  Details available
HERE.

UL Creative Writing Winter School

Sarah Moore Fitzgerald is no stranger to the festival and her piece at Sunday Miscellany about her move to Limerick struck a chord with many.  Sarah runs the UL Creative Writing Winter School in Doolin and more information is available
HERE.

Your Local Bookshop

We are lucky here in Ennis to have two independent bookshops - the Ennis Bookshop and Scéal Eile.  Now more than ever it is important to shop local.  If they don't have what you're looking for, it can be ordered and they might even have a different suggestion to tide you over.

TG4 Documentary

As part of this years festival, a group of eager walkers explored the Burren with our local guide.  This documentary on TG4 might interest you.  DNA Caillte (The Lost DNA) explores Ireland's history told anew with the help of DNA.  The three part series is available to watch (in Ireland)

Dromineer Nenagh Literary Festival

The lineup for the Dromineer Nenagh Literary Festival is wonderful and includes some of old friends of the festival.  The festival runs from Ovtober 1st to 4th.  Details are available
HERE.
