“The pandemic is remaking who we are. It is an opening to a new world where our capacity to love each other is integral to our survival.”

Nafeez Ahmed, Investigative Reporter

To Our Patients,

It was just about six months ago when COVID-19 made its presence known in the United States. The virus has clearly affected every facet of our lives.

This summer, vacation plans looked different. People made reservations to swim at their pool, summer camps and festivals were held virtually, and state parks became popular vacation spots.

And what we saw in that, is our communities and businesses were thinking outside the box to safely provide for people.

This is no less true of the medical community. Orthopaedic practices met this challenge by being flexible in how care was delivered without sacrificing safety.

We have taken steps to reduce the type of contact that might transmit COVID-19. As part of these steps, we have tapped into technology that supports safer and more efficient procedures. Telemedicine, digital documentation, secure messaging, alerts, portals and screening tools are just some ways that bring greater safety to our patients.

We have all seen a great deal of change over the past six months and I expect we will continue to see significant changes in the months to come. And while this pandemic has been very disruptive, it has also presented us with the opportunity to be innovative in the ways we care for each other.

And so, it is my hope that even after we find a way to control COVID-19, all of us will take the best parts of what living through this pandemic has taught us and continue to use those skills and knowledge to serve one another.

Until then, please remain healthy and strong.
