Voter Resources

Your vote matters this election!  We have a chance as clinicians, to shift the national dialogue on voting and demonstrate the importance of a vote rooted in evidence based research.

Now is our chance to vote for climate and to stand up for social and environmental justice.

The deadline for registering to vote in Georgia is Monday, October 5 - less than a week away!

Ways to Register:

Check your voter registration status by visiting: https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do, and follow the “MVP Login” steps.

If you ARE registered to vote, consider whether you will vote in-person or by mail:

  • Vote early in person. Early voting in Georgia begins Monday, October 12 and ends Friday, October 31.  Contact your local election office to find your early voting location(s).
  • Vote in person on election day. Many people may still prefer to vote at the polls on November 3rd. If you can safely vote in person on Election Day, we urge you to plan to allow as much time as possible at the polls, double check your polling place location, and don’t forget to bring a mask and hand sanitizer.

We must vote for bold climate action in Georgia and across the country!

More Information
Climate change is a health emergency adversely affecting people today, especially children, the elderly, and people of color, and is poised to have even greater impacts with each passing year. Addressing climate change will not only reduce those impacts, but also provide robust, positive health co-benefits. Join other health professionals in fulfilling our mission to protect the health of those we serve by calling on Congress to enact effective bipartisan carbon pricing legislation that returns revenues directly back to US households, thereby protecting the most economically disadvantaged from rising energy costs during the transition to a healthy, low carbon economy.

Sign now to protect children's lungs from smog

Breathing more long-term ground-level-ozone — commonly known as smog — is the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.
This is true for the 42% of people — more than 137 million — in the United States that live in areas with unhealthy levels of ozone (smog), as found in the “State of the Air” 2020 report by the American Lung Association. When you take those facts into consideration, along with the growing scientific evidence that smog harms health at levels below 60 parts per billion in the atmosphere, it seems absurd that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced they are not going to change their current National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) of 70 ppb for ozone.

Tell the EPA we need stronger smog rules

Virtual film premiere of
Planet Prescription: Healing Healers. Healing Communities. Healing us.
October 20th at 8 pm ET

The COVID-19 crisis is brutally showing us how vulnerable we are to existential threats. There is an unconnected pandemic sweeping the planet — health impacts from air pollution and the climate crisis.

But, we have the prescription — listening to science and stories, while making our voices heard can create a healthier planet for all of us.

The film listens to stories from health professionals as they witness how air pollution and climate change are impacting human health, especially children’s health and the communities impacted most by racial injustice.

This collaborative film was made in partnership with the Climate Listening Project, Mothers & Others for Clean Air and Narrative Healthcare at Lenoir Rhyne University. Dr. Anne Mellinger-Birdsong, GCCA Steering committee member, is featured in the film and a part of the panel following the premiere.
