It was GAME ON...and then covid hit. We didn't even have a chance to host the first one! Chef Dan Kalber & I have discussed it and we are moving a head with a socially distanced version on Sunday Oct 4th at 6pm

Book Club! We all decided we needed a bit of a break & humor in our lives and Christoper Moore is one of my FAVORITE authors. The book is available at the Winchester Book Gallery (there's only 1 rule in book club, you have to buy the book at the Book Gallery!) Here's a few quotes from The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove:

We are going to give a socially distanced wine tasting a go at Brewbakers! Lisa Bell (LK Wine Tours & Sales) has a line of HIGHLY rated wines from Alto Adige (my all time favorite region for white wines) and you are going to have a chance to try them, and buy them on September 26th from 6p-8p in the Backroom of Brewbakers. As usual, when we do an event with our neighbors, there is a fee to attend and it's $20.00 for the general public, $15.00 for Wine Club Members. This will be a socially distanced tasting. 4 wine tasting tables will be spread far apart and we will be taking reservations in 30 minute increments and only allowing 12-15 people per 30 minutes. Brewbakers will be pairing food and it will be provided in individual packaging for your safety, at a 5th table. Masks are required to enter.

There are only 12 wines to sample, but they are higher end and well worth your time to try. Have I ever lied to you? The Terlano wines are ALL rated 90 points or higher from James Suckling, The Wine Spectator, The Wine Advocate & Decanter and are well worth the price. Start thinking about the holidays and what you want to serve, pour and even to give as gifts. Simply put these are world class wines. The line up is below:

Ripe melon and freshly picked McIntosh apples on the nose. Crisp and light on the palate with pineapple, Bartlett pear and apple flavors mingled with orange zest and almond notes. The finish lingers with spicy tropical fruit. Given the opportunity, I would never drink Pinot Grigio from anywhere BUT Alto Adige

Apple Cider on the nose, chalk and lemon zest, this wine is clean and focused expands on the palate to reveal warm apple crisp,clove and quince nuances.

Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc
It starts with a hint of cardamom, white pepper and soft pink grapefruit. Loads of apricot and ripe, tropical citrus fruits plus intense minerality. Fresh fennel and bright acidity define the finish.

A full-bodied white, with aromas of summer flowers, sage and dried pineapple. Earthy, surprisingly powerful with grapefruit, coriander and hints of truffled honey on the palate.
2017 Terlan Vorberg Pinot Bianco Riserva, $48.99
93 pts – Decanter
The aromatics of wild flower, pear and honey are traditional of Alsace. Layers of ripe pear, hazelnut, almond and smoke grace the palate and lead to a silky, creamy finish due to the malolactic fermentation.
2018 Terlan Lagrein Rose $24.99
This dry, crisp rosé is made from the Lagrein grape, a varietal native
to Alto-Adige. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks & it's bottled in early Spring. It's deep salmon-red in color with exotic fruit aromas. Light and fresh, with well-balanced acidity, notes of red berry fruit and a crisp finish.

The wine is aged big oak casks for malolactic fermentation. It's ruby-red in color with a delicate berry and dried fruit aromas. It has a dry medium bodied taste, with lively acidity and a light trace of tannin.
2014 Terlan Monticol Pinot Nero (Noir) Riserva $48.99

Dark ruby-red wine with an intense bouquet of wild berries and light toasty notes. This Pinot is an elegant, harmonious medium-bodied wine with velvety dark fruits and a memorable finish.
2014 Porphyr Lagrein Riserva $75.59

Fermented in stainless steel it then receives malolactic fermentation and
aging in new barriques. Lagrein is an indigenous grape to Alto Adige & is
dense garnet in color with scents of brambly ripe blackberry and spice, balanced with warm oak accents. It is silky in texture and layered with rivers of lush chocolate and wild berries supported in a framework of mineral and spice.

Pala Cannonau i Fiori $20.59
Studies indicate that Cannonau (ca-non-ow) , a varietal rich in phenols, is the wine to drink for longevity. This is supported by the fact that Sardinia has one of the world's largest populations of centenarians. It has an intense ruby-red color with subtle spice and mature red fruit aromas. Medium-bodied with good structure and a lingering finish.
Tolaini Al Passo $29.99
Super Tuscan! Equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon
Spicy notes of oak rise above distinct aromas of cherry and berry. The palate has a backbone of Sangiovese, a roundness of Merlot and enhanced body from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit purity and varietal signatures are testament to the meticulous care given to the vines.
Cantina Clara C Fiori di Prosecco $24.99 (organic, female wine maker, extra dry )
Bright with a silky and fine perlage (collection of pearls, fancy for "bubbles") and an intense nose of pear and green apple. Perfect as an aperitif and delicious with seafood and shellfish
