2020 PACE Champions: Charlene Heydinger, Texas PACE Authority, was recognized as a 2020 PACE Champion Award for extraordinary leadership over multiple years to strengthen and expand the PACE marketplace.
2020 PACESetters: Bruce Elfant, Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector, received the PACESetter Award for excellence in advocacy and policy innovation. Chip Bray, Prosperity Bank Banking Center President received the PACESetter Award for lenders whose leadership helped C-PACE Administrators and capital providers expand PACE in their state.

SPEER recruits, trains, and positions building professionals as Ambassadors throughout Texas and Oklahoma, to provide guidance and peer-to-peer support for the code enforcement community in efforts to improve compliance with energy codes. Ambassadors provide resources and networking to support the program and enable SPEER to better access construction practices across the states so we can better identify needs and provide assistance.
On September 23rd, SPEER will be hosting our 6th annual Energy Code Ambassador Training, in which we will provide over 10 hours of virtual instruction focused on a deep dive into the commercial chapters of the 2015 IECC. We’ll leave no stone unturned on our way through all things related to the energy code requirements in commercial construction. In exchange for a few hours a month of our Ambassador’s time, we provide yearly in-depth energy code training for the group.

Energy Codes: TX Inspectors Convention
|
|
In the past at SPEER we have mostly focused our education and outreach efforts on municipal and third-party energy inspectors as they are the front line of energy code enforcement. Recently, we have found great benefit in also working with traditional home inspectors who are often required by mortgage lenders. Typically, home buyers never see inspection reports from the city or third party energy inspectors but the vast majority will see a real estate inspection report prior to a home purchase. It is vital for these reports to include energy code related issues and place them in the minds of potential homebuyers.
Here in Texas the Texas Real Estate Inspectors Association (TPREIA) and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) merged earlier this year. Join us as we present at their annual training on September 24th.
