ANNOUNCEMENTS

Worship Continues Virtually

On August 18th the Executive Team met, as scheduled. Minutes are posted on the church website. As we regularly do and will continue to do, we considered our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As regards worship we recognize that we are so blessed with such talented people and access to suitable equipment. We will continue to adhere to the advice and requirements that come our way from various layers of government, the wider church and our insurance provider. Additionally we feel that it is right that when we come together physically it will be open to all of us. With that in mind we will continue to worship in a virtual environment for the foreseeable future.

Information about the Bible Study will be forthcoming. Please contact Dorothy Jeffery for information dajeffer@telus.net 604-433-0819

Payment for the Broadview Magazine is now due. The fee is $25. If you recently asked to subscribe to the magazine, please make a payment to the office or you can include your Broadview Magazine fee  with your Offering. Just be sure to mark your envelope “Broadview Magazine”. Thank you!

The Thrift Shop is open Thursdays 10am – 2 pm.
COVID-19 regulations will be in effect, with a limited number of customers in the shop, masks required, and no trying-on of clothing or footwear.  We welcome you back to the shop where we have been busy cleaning and re-organizing.

Donations: We will begin receiving donations of clean, usable clothing, and small household goods at the beginning of September.  HOWEVER: please limit the amount of donations, as we need to quarantine all donations before they are sorted; also will only have limited staff receiving donations, pricing items, and staffing the store (to allow for proper social distancing).  Donations can be dropped off weekday mornings (only) at the church entrance off the lane – you can call the office (604-434-8323) to make an appointment to bring in donations.  We realize that people have been saving lots of items for the Shop since March, but PLEASE don’t bring them all at once!  We have limited space - and staff!!  And DO NOT leave donations outside the building!!!
Yoga in Christian Context is a Shiloh-Fifth United small group that has been on hiatus during the pandemic. Nicky (who leads the group) now has a webcam she can get her whole body on screen with, and would like to offer weekly sessions of hatha yoga, scripture, and prayer on Zoom on Thursday evenings 7:30-9:00, beginning Sept. 24. People affiliated with either Shiloh-Fifth or Jubilee are especially invited to attend, but sessions are open to anyone. Please have comfortable clothes on and bare feet. If you don't have a yoga mat, ensure you are on a padded and non-slip surface. Any level of physical mobility and yoga experience welcome! If you have particular physical conditions that will require adjustments to yoga poses (e.g. high blood pressure, injured knees, glaucoma), please email Nicky to let her know, at didicher@sfu.ca.
