Thank you Truist!

AMRoC Fab Lab’s parent nonprofit, the Foundation for Community Driven Innovation, received a $30,000 grant from Truist Financial Corporation to support our Equity in Entrepreneurship program. The Equity in Entrepreneurship program is a collaborative project of Grow to Greatness Ventures and FCDI’s AMRoC Fab Lab, in partnership with the Hillsborough County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and local area business leaders.
We’re honored and grateful to have Truist’s support for the Equity in Entrepreneurship program.

AMRoC & eSmart's Recycling Drive

Starts: 9/26/20 10am - 1pm
Cost: Free

One old computer in your life can change the life of someone else – in this case a child without access to technology. On September 26, eSmart Recycling and AMRoC Fab Lab team up for an e-waste drive to  recycle computers and old technology to help empower kids and families in our community. It's the perfect time to clear out your office, garage, or closet and recycle anything with a battery, a plug, or a switch to support our community. Contactless drop off behind AMRoC Fab Lab, and robot demos, recycled art displays and AMRoC tours inside the mall.

AMRoC Proud

Thank you Vanessa Ferguson and Tonya Elmore for doing an amazing job presenting on the Legalities of Business for last week’s early stage Entrepreneurship session.
Vanessa, CIPT, is a managing director with Ferguson Legal, a business law firm that helps start-ups and small business address their business’s needs within their budget. She's also an attorney specializing in intellectual property and privacy and a FCDI board member.
Tonya is the President and CEO of Tampa Bay Innovation Center, Pinellas County’s premier tech business accelerator which is located in downtown St. Pete.

We’re grateful for not only their time and expertise, but the passion and enthusiasm they brought to the topic, and their interest and support of our EE cohort’s success!
Congratulations to the Nathan and Chase of our in-house FIRST Robotics Competition team, the Edgar Allan Ohms, for their great presentation at the Georgia FIRST Symposium. Delivered remotely from AMRoC Fab Lab on Saturday, they gave a comprehensive overview to an appreciative audience, of the Field Management System project they’re leading. We’re hoping to use the FMS at our ROBOTICON Live Online! Youth robotics showcase in November.
Go Team Duct Tape! – Saturday also marked the official international kick-off of the FIRST Tech Challenge season. Our FIRST Tech Challenge team, Team Duct Tape, and other Middle and high school students participating in the program are looking at a virtual competition season this year, as they play the “Ultimate Goal”.

The game challenges them to build a robot capable of handling a number of tasks from collecting foam rings, to launching them into different goals. While the competitions themselves will be different, the challenges are as demanding as ever and we’re excited to see what Team Duct Tape and our other local teams come up with!
