Join Our Webinar THIS Wednesday at 7pm EDT!

The United Methodist Advocates for Public Schools (UMAPS) team from Saint Francis United Methodist Church and the NC Conference of the United Methodist Church and Pastors for NC Children invite you to join us for a Webinar "Public Education Advocacy And Faith: Why The Church Should Care" on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm as we explore our faith's call to support public education for all students in North Carolina.

For over 20 years, public schools in NC have been dramatically underfunded. Our schools need all communities, especially churches, to advocate for the sound basic education the NC Constitution guarantees. We will look at the divine call to equity and explore why the Leandro Court Case and WestEd report are so important to people of faith across NC.

All-Star Moderators and Speakers
We are excited to hear from Moderators Rev. Lib and Tom Campbell. Lib is the retired pastor for formation at Saint Marks United Methodist Church in Raleigh. Tom is the Host of NC Spin on WUNC-TV. We will have comments from Bishop Hope Morgan Ward of the NC Conference of the United Methodist Church. Our Speakers are:

  • The Rev. Paul Robeson Ford, Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church Highland Ave in Winston-Salem
  • Lynn Edmonds, Outreach Director of Public Schools First NC
  • Kris Nordstrom, Senior Policy Analyst for the Education Law Project of the NC Justice Center.
