As we all enjoy the warming of the weather under the subtle spring sunshine, the fragrance of the early spring blooms floating in the air and we are reminded through the Seasons of Creation on ways to care for all creation, it is lovely to bring a burst of exciting news to our weekly newsletter. The Annual Wyong District Garden & Horticulture Competition is in its 47th year, and is a hotly contested competition. This year had the added complication of Covid-19, but Warnervale Regional Uniting has been awarded 1st place in the Business premises, Resorts and Churches section. This is a tough section considering the financial resources of resorts and large businesses. There are 20 sections in the competition and they cater for all types of gardens and gardeners, from professionals through to clubs, schools, businesses and community gardens. The gardens at Warnervale are only 3 years old, and last year they were awarded 3rd place in the Best Community Garden section of the competition. The plants are all native, perfect drought tolerant plants. There is one area of white flowering plants in remembrance of others and also in recognition of those affected by domestic violence. At the top of the path there is a seat that was donated by the mother of an adult man with disabilities, who was a member of the congregation for several years. This area is the perfect spot for quiet contemplation.
As anyone who spends time in the garden knows, a beautiful garden usually entails a lot of hard work and dedication, and the gardens at Warnervale are no different. Lynne Matson says
" It is mainly due to the dedication of one person, John King, with some help from others. It really is a labour of love."
The community also benefits from this hard work as the gardens are completely open for anyone in the community to enjoy.
Congratulations Warnervale on a well deserved 1st place.
Mrs Mary Peter. Passed away peacefully at Bowden Brae Gardens Normanhurst Sydney Friday 11 Sep 2020. Mrs Mary Peter - wife of Rev James Peter gave significant service to the life of the church and community.

Request for Methodist hymnbooks
Does your church have any Methodist Hymn books not being used by your congregation that could be redistributed to a church in Fiji.
A church at Labasa is asking for hymn books to replace those that are perishing from overuse.
Please contact Rev. Brian Jago – 0418785208 if your congregation is able to assist.
Brian will come and pick them up and make sure they get to Fiji.
Vinaka vakalevu!!
The Uniting Church Chaplaincy and Christian Students Uniting at Macquarie University have made a video to use with students leaving Yr12 who might be coming to Macquarie Uni in 2021, to let them know we exist and have some familiarity with us for when they arrive in Feb. 2021.
See the video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/0gJ2XWRUnK4 It’s 4.5 mins long.
Please use it with Yr 12 students in your congregations, its youth groups or any situations where Yr12 students are present.
The future is now Global Day of Action - September 25 The wider Uniting Church is joining youth climate leaders calling for action on climate change, and to build a better future.
The Uniting Church in Australia has a long history of caring for creation. There is hope in our stories of putting faith into action, hope in our strategies to adapt, and hope in the mobilisation of large groups of people for political change and the building of strong communities. As Covid-19 has been disrupting the world, we have been able to enjoy a once in a generation opportunity to reimagine and create a safe and better future.
The School Strike for Climate and SEED Indigenous Youth Climate Network now ask their supporters of all ages to take part in a national day of action on September 25, calling on the government to “fund our future not gas”.
What can we do to support young climate leaders and build a better future?
