Free DigiTech series for students, young entrepreneurs and innovators

This October, the City of Subiaco is hosting a Digital Futures month featuring a series of cyber education events for young people. 

Digital Futures runs from Thursday 1 October until Saturday 12 December and covers cyber security, digital disruption, digital support for businesses and careers in technology. 

Cyber Saturdays is a free weekly session from Saturday 17 October to Saturday 12 December at Subiaco Community Business Space from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Young people can prepare for future digital careers through interactive gamification learning all culminating in the production of a video! This session is suitable for 12 to 18 year olds, and is free for Bob Hawke College students and City residents. Places are filling fast, register online by Friday 9 October. 

The free series is being delivered in partnership with Edith Cowan University, Aust Cyber and the Innovation Institute.

Subi Lounge Series
Starts Thursday 24 September

Dive into a kaleidoscope of open-air performances and more intimate-style gigs hosted by Subiaco’s many restaurants and bars over two weekends from Thursday 24 September to Saturday 3 October. Take a night off or bring the whole family.
Curious creatures, wild minds
Starts Saturday 26 September
Join us at Subiaco Library this school holidays for Lego challenges, Benham’s magical spinning disks, painting, pyjama storytime and games! Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.
School holidays at Lords
Starts Wednesday 30 September
The school holiday program is back at Lords this spring! Programs run from 9.30am to 1.30pm on Wednesday 30 September, Friday 2 October and Monday 5 October. Children can take part in survivor challenges, cooking, mini Olympics and a royally fun time! Book online.
Mental Health Matters
5pm, Thursday 8 October
In partnership with the City, join this free interactive virtual session by the Australian Red Cross specifically for young people aged 13 to 18. The session covers mental health, how to respond to a person experiencing poor mental health, support, wellbeing and resilience. Book online.

Youth grants extended
Closes Friday 23 October inclusive
All young people aged 12 to 25 who live or go to secondary school within the City are eligible to apply for a $100 Youth Achievement Grant to support their personal or professional development. The eligibility criteria expansion is available until the end of Western Australia's COVID-19 Phase 4 restrictions. 
Junior Squash at Lords
Wednesday afternoons
Subiaco Kings Squash Club is now offering junior squash coaching clinics at Lords. Squash is a great sport for kids to improve hand-eye coordination, general fitness and is lots of fun! Children as young as five years can participate, no experience is necessary and equipment can be provided.

New mural now complete
Haydn Bunton Drive underpass
A new mural has brightened up the Haydn Bunton Drive underpass. Lego Masters 2020 winner and well-known Perth artist, Jackson Harvey, transformed the underpass with a new 25 metre mural with the help of year seven Bob Hawke College students.
