President's Report

Dear Members,

This is my first newsletter as President. It's very exciting and I have much to share with you all!

Firstly, the AGM was held on the 2nd of August and I would like to thank those who attended. Also, thank you to those who have stepped down from roles held in past seasons. Many people have given many years of service to the club. I would especially like to call out Bryce. I think the AGM had a warm and fuzzy feeling thanking him for his fantastic 4 years as President. I would also like to thank Greg Hyde, Kris Monnock, Dave Campbell, Michael Wasley and Tony Hilliger.

I would like to welcome our new office bearers and Committee. You can see the Executive Committee on the club website:
 http://monavaleslsc.org.au/committee-members/

We now have a new fees structure which is much simplified. Before you go online and renew through the SLS Members Portal check out the new fees.

I caught up with the council recently and the New Club House project is well underway. It is very exciting to see the progress. We will be able to continue to use the club house over much of the next patrol season and next winter the bulk of the construction will happen.

We are planning a Presentation Night for the 17th of October. It will be invite only, due to COVID restrictions, but we will be live streaming so everyone can enjoy the fun.

Finally, our first patrol is on the 26th of September. The beaches will be busy with people not able to take overseas holidays. Please remember when entering the Club House to sign in & use the new hand sanitiser stations, be COVIDSAFE and take care of one another.

Cheers
Madame President - Paula

Membership Renewal

Members are invited to renew their membership for the coming season, subject to the approval of the Management Committee.

The Coronavirus pandemic has provided an opportune time for membership renewals, new memberships, payments and transfers to be all done online through the SLSA Members Area at https://members.sls.org.au.  This is effective immediately and all members are expected to have an individual account or be part of a Family Group in order to undertake a variety of tasks. Members can also access the Members Area through the Club’s website at https://monavaleslsc.org.au.

An email was sent to all members on the 24 May 2020, ‘MVSLSC Important Information for Membership Renewal’ where the renewal process was outlined. Members may need to check all folders including spam. Members also received their individual personal details on SLSA’s database ‘Surfguard’. Please check your details and update where appropriate at SLSA’s Members Area https://members.sls.org.au.

Members are reminded it is an SLSA obligation to complete the membership form and pay the membership fee annually. Members will not be registered unless both are done. Members who wish to use Active Kids Vouchers need to submit these online. This can be done through the SLS Members Area or through the Club’s website.

The Club’s website has been updated to provide ‘how to’ information to assist members in this change to managing membership online including: ‘Renewals, Payments & Transfers’, ‘Family Groups’ and ‘Creating a Members Area Account’.  To see the ‘how to’ guides go to https://monavale.slsc.org.au and click on Members>Members Portal on the menu bar.

We appreciate your assistance and patience during the implementation of this new process.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

SLSNSW is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our members, and with the current Coronavirus emergency continuing to escalate, we feel it is important to provide as much information to you that is relevant in your role as lifesavers, emergency first responders and community members.

Latest Update
Please click on the link below to visit the SLSNSW dedicated Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates page which provides a lot of information:

https://surflifesaving.com.au/resources/coronavirus-covid-19-updates-resources-slsnsw-clubs

The following restrictions are in place for the State of NSW:

  • Outdoor gatherings of up to 20 people
  • Up to 20 visitors may visit another household at any one time.  The total number includes adults and children.  From Monday 14 September 2020, if there are more than 20 visitors at a home, every person will be held individually responsible for a  breach of the public health order.  As the home is a high transmission area, the NSW Chief Health Officer strongly recommends a COVID-Safe precautionary approach of having no more than 10 visitors at a time.
  • Venues can take bookings for weddings and events to be held in the future for more people than allowed under current rules, as long as the rules that apply when the event is held are obeyed.  Up to 150 people are allowed to attend a wedding service at a place of public worship.
  • If the venue has multiple buildings at a single location - each building can have as many people as allowed under the 4 square metre rule, up to a maximum of 100 people.  Each building must be designated as a separate area with it's own COVID-19 Safety Plan, separate staff with each service or event to start and finish at a different time.
  • Community sporting activities, including training sessions can recommence.  Maxiumum number of participants cannot exceed 500.  Record keeping for spectators must take place for all ticketed community sporting activities
  • All business can now open and operate under the one person per 4 square metre rule
Border Closure to protect NSW
The NSW Government is closing the border with Victoria from midnight Wednesday 8 July 2020.  Further, from midnight Tuesday 7 July, residents from Greater Melbourne will not be allowed to enter NSW.

Returning NSW residents will be required to go into 14 days of self-isolation.  There will be provisions in place for residents of border regions, such as Albury-Wodonga.

To read in more detail about the above measures please click on the link https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules

The Mona Vale SLSC Member Protection, Welfare and Support Team are club members who have volunteered to be independent, confidential, and non committee persons to protect, represent and listen to our members at times when our members need help, are involved in an unpleasant experience, or wish to report an incident which is in breach of Mona Vale SLSC code of conduct.
