New Day Dawning for Smart Prosthetics

You could argue that smart prosthetics already exist in the form of microprocessor knees and myoelectric arms, and you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. But multiple developers are working on next-gen devices that promise to make current technology look thick-headed by comparison. These super-smart prostheses hold the potential to pair feeling with function, integrating with mind and body to a degree that’s never been possible outside of sci-fi fantasy. Generation Rex
Caitlin Conner Keeps Her Promises

She vowed to climb Cotopaxi while wearing her T-Rex suit, and that’s still going to happen—just not this year, due to COVID. Instead Caitlin Conner will hike up a Texas peak next week while clad in the dinosaur duds, to raise money for amputees who need prosthetic care. Conner named her residual limb “Rex” because the scar's outline reminded her of a Jurassic giant, and because she loves a good laugh. But she’s dead serious when it comes to advocating for people with disabilities. MORE
