Child Protection

The National Crime Agency just reported that predators are online much more during lockdown and that they can access content in which children are sexually abused as little as 3 clicks of the computer! We must increase efforts to protect children. Pre-Cana Days & 50th Wedding Anniversary

While we continue to recommend meeting individually with engaged couples during this time, we are aware that parishes would like to schedule Pre-Cana Days for this fall. In order to promote parish Pre-Cana Days through our office, we need to provide some assurance that parishes are following the principles and guidelines that have been set for the health and safety of all.
We ask that you please share the Guiding Principles for Parish Ministry document with your parish Pre-Cana teams to assist in their planning. If you have any questions, please contact the Marriage & Family office.
Also, please encourage jubilarians (couples married in 1970) to complete the sign up form at dioceseofcleveland.org/50th in order to receive a diocesan certificate in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. If circumstances change and make it possible for us to safely gather for a Mass, we will notify all those who complete the form.

First Friday Club

Reimagining Ministry in a Pandemic Environment

All of us know so well the challenges and graces of this pandemic period in our lives. What has this meant for us as a Church? Sister Rita Mary Harwood, SND and members of the staff of the Diocesan Parish Life Secretariat spoke about the challenges and opportunities this time has provided and ways in which those in ministry are responding during the Cleveland First Friday Club in September.

Immigration Raid Response Info Session

Thursday, October 8, 7 pm
Following the migrant raids that occurred in our area two years ago, members of the Welcoming the Stranger Committee discussed the fact that we had not been prepared to respond. A Rapid Response Subcommittee was formed and was tasked with expanding our reach through collaboration with existing groups, developing a plan of response, and providing training for volunteers.
We are hoping to launch the Northeast Ohio Rapid Response Network (NEORRN) this fall. A software management system will be in place by then, with funding to run the system. We have developed training modules for the various areas of response and are honing our skills with training via Zoom. All that is missing is the team of dedicated volunteers who will bring this to life. Please note that, other than the position of Hotline operator, which needs to be staffed on an ongoing basis, most of the volunteer positions are only needed in the event of an ICE enforcement action in your area. We are preparing and training for something that we hope will never happen!

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email from Zoom containing information about joining the meeting. If you have general questions about volunteering, please contact Emily at volunteerneohiorrn@gmail.com.
