Request for Input: Equitable access to and availability of platforms and tools used for collaboration in online Communities

There have been pockets of discussion within The Carpentries community around this subject in the last year or so, and we would like to hear from you:

What tools and platforms used by The Carpentries are inaccessible or unavailable to people in certain regions around the world?

Please share as much detail as you can under issue 26 in The Carpentries Conversations repository or under this post on TopicBox, with links where possible, and remember to mention affected countries / regions in your response.

Introducing the Carpentries Community Facilitators Program
The Community Facilitators Program is a new initiative in The Carpentries that seeks to create new pathways for active involvement in everyday community activities by more community members. This program will help sustain the growing Carpentries community and support other core programs that contribute to the advancement of our mission. Read more information about the program here

Update from the Instructor Training Team
The Instructor Training team will be scheduling Online Workshops bonus modules for certified Instructors soon. This new 3-hour workshop is designed to support Instructors in preparing to teach online as a supplement to our Recommendations for Teaching Carpentries Workshops Online

Can you believe 7 weeks have come and gone?! Thank you to all of the attendees who participated in our first CarpentryCon @ Home event. Applications are open for the 2021 Better Scientific Software Fellowship program
The Better Scientific Software (BSSw) Fellowship program fosters and promotes practices, processes and tools to improve developer productivity and software sustainability of scientific codes.
