Are You Ready?

“Are You Ready For Some Football?” is one of the most iconic phrases in all of television. ESPN created a new open for Monday Night Football, celebrating the 50th year of the Primetime game. The goal was to create an open that honors the rich history of the show while also providing a roadmap into the future. The new recording of the song lead by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and a band of fabulous Nashville musicians including guitarist Jason Isabell returns the song back to its original roots.

The opening visuals feature NFL Hall-of-Fame Players asking “Are You Ready For Some Football?” The verse of the song features footage that takes you back to the glory days of Joe Namath and Bo Jackson. The chorus spotlights the two teams playing that night.

The visuals for this new open were imagined by The ESPN Creative Team with help from Man vs. Machine and Evolve Studios. The outcome is a rollicking new version of this sports anthem.  Each week a whole new generation of fans are now singing “Are You Ready For Some Football?”

Monday Night Football Open scored Gold from the Grand Jury in Sports Program Open & Titles.

So, here’s to the storytellers: the filmmakers, journalists, cinematographers, sound designers, creative directors, writers, directors, and producers whose passion and imagination transport us. And who could be receiving awards in 2021!
