Ahoy there mate! Thank you for being a member of my lighthouse community.

I hope my art will excite and inspire you as I share my love of lighthouses. Not only am I an artist but also a visual storyteller. Discover the unique tales that unfold within each lighthouse painting.

Most people have an affinity with lighthouses. Perhaps lighthouses appeal to us because they represent the best in mankind.

These beautiful beacons symbolize our passion for life and our connectedness. There are over 18,000 lighthouses in the world. I’ve visited close to 80 lighthouses in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland.

My uplifting lighthouse art with narratives captures the noble souls of lighthouses and is reminder of our common humanity.

October is National Preservation Month

The National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act gave nonprofits and other government agencies a chance to adopt lighthouses. The first lighthouses given away were the St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida and New York’s Esopus Meadows lighthouse on the Hudson River.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and save big!
Maria Andreu maintained St. Augustine Lighthouse as a light keeper 1859-1861. She was the first Hispanic-American to serve in the Coast Guard and the first to command a federal shore installation.

When I painted the St. Augustine Lighthouse for the fourth time, I found new inspiration...female light keepers. Armed with this new insight about female keepers, I rendered the soft clouds lingering above and bright yellow daises blooming  beneath.

In my painting, “Seeds of Dreams,” the clouds symbolize the hopes and dreams of female light keepers and the daisies represent womanhood.

Unveiling New Art

When I showed my son my painting of “Impressions at Donaghee” he said it looked serene. I almost laughed! I was not feeling serene when I painted it. Almost the exact opposite.

Collector’s Corner
Why do people buy art?

I certainly don’t have all the answers. Some people buy art because it makes an emotional connection while others are looking for a piece to add to a collection or to decorate their homes. What do you think?

This new collector reached out to me for help in sorting out the right piece of art for her bookcase. When she sent me a picture of her bookcase, I made a few suggestions. After her purchase of Brant Point Lighthouse, we went on FrameBridge for a virtual selection of frames.

I would to feature you in Collector’s Corner with a photo of your framed print or with you and my lighthouse  art. Please contact me by email.

So thankful for the support and encouragement of collectors.

Lighthouses still connect us

I have visited almost 80 lighthouses. Fifteen of those, I visited during the Northern Ireland Lighthouse Tour.  John Eagle and a small group of fellow lighthouse enthusiasts toured the Emerald Isle. Ireland has some of the most beautiful and spectacular lighthouses. One of them makes it to the world’s most beautiful lighthouse list. Another one was built upside down. A couple years later John passed away. So thankful our paths crossed. John was such a kind hearted, talented artist and photographer. The trip was made better by a gentleman from London who delighted us with his quick wit. I stay in touch with him now. Lighthouses do indeed connect us with one another.

Check out my gallery at Fineartamerica, to see the art from my trip to Ireland.
