Hopeful Horizons CEO Kristin Dubrowski sat down (virtually of course) with members of our team recently -- staff and clients -- and we're sharing the conversations with you! Check out these impactful interviews below.
Prevention Programs: Hear from James Morrall, our Director of Prevention and Outreach about his team’s work with teenagers, families and professionals in the community. Find out more about how we’re raising awareness and working to end violence and abuse in the Lowcountry.
The Power of Survival: Jane Carson Sandler, a survivor of the Golden State Killer/East Area Rapist, talks about her journey from victim to survivor to thriver. The Golden State Killer recently pled guilty to a number of charges and Jane was in court for the hearing.
Children's Advocacy Center (CAC): Hear from Marian Lindsey, the director of our nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center, and Angela Knieriem, Hopeful Horizons’ Director of Clinical Services. Kristin talked with Marian about the role of the CAC and forensic interviews for children who have been abused or have witnessed violence. Angela shared about her experience as a clinician and the work being done by the team of Hopeful Horizons therapists. Special note: There's a cameo of our favorite four-legged employee on this recording!
Serial Offenders: Meet Gene Rugala, retired FBI behavioral profiler, author and nationally recognized threat assessment expert. Kristin talks with Gene about his role in cases similar to the Golden State Killer and common traits of individuals who commit these crimes.
We recently received this email from a former client who completed counseling from a Hopeful Horizons’ Therapist and wanted to share it with you.
“You know, what? I am okay now. I am staying strong...
Not only am I staying strong, I am strong. I am doing everything I can do to thrive. I’ve been taking more personal time just for me and my daughter to spend time with one another. I now realize my daughter needs a happy mother and I can only be that happy mother if I take care of me. I can’t thank you enough for how you uplifted me mentally. You helped me emotionally. It has been an inspiration. The support I felt at Hopeful Horizons has helped and inspired me to not to judge others, but rather to be there for others. I work with the public. The help I received from Hopeful Horizons has helped me in the work I do with others. Kindness has a ripple effect. Now that I am in a healthier place and I have received kindness from Hopeful Horizons, it not only benefits me and my daughter, but also flows from me to another and hopefully from that person to another. And, that is the type of community I want to live in.”
