All Things Recycling
Long-time MRC Board Chair, Bill Gurn honored - The West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum is inducting beloved MRC leader, Bill Gurn, Manager of Facilities and Maintenance and Operations at Haworth into their Hall of Fame. Bill was a sought after leader for most of his later career at Haworth. His visionary work reducing waste and finding recycling markets for much of their production byproducts made the furniture maker leaders in the industry and earned them good money for their recyclables. Bill led the MRC as Chair of the Board for about 12 years, working closely with MRC ED Kerrin O'Brien, before he left to prepare for retirement. Last summer Bill contracted encephalitis, likely linked to the mosquito-borne EEE in West Michigan. After a long recovery, Bill has finally retired from Haworth and he is missed by all those he found time for and helped. Congratulations to Bill!

Cleanlites facility damaged by fire - Fire crews responded to alarms at the Mason-based Cleanlites Recycling which recycles lamps, electronics, batteries, and other universal and residential waste.  No one was inside the building when the fire alarm system went off, but there was significant damage. Investigators believe that batteries started the fire.
