We have to start with our amazing Women’s team who won the Reta Fitzpatrick Cup on Saturday night. It was a great game of football that drew a good crowd of people at English Park. All games against Cashmere Tech are close thrilling games and this was no different. 0 – 0 at half time did not reflect the entertainment with both keepers keeping their teams in the game with a number of great saves. Half way through the second half Tech scored to go 1-0 up but the girls were not fazed. They hit back with goals from Mel Cameron, Tahlia Herman-Watt and an own goal to clinch the cup with a 3-1 win. A great night! Adding the Reta Cup to the WPL title and the Hawkey Shield was a truly magnificent achievement. The girls were unbeaten all season.
Congratulations to Juan, Heather and the team and thank you to everyone that came out to English Park to support the team.
The MPL Boys set the tone for the day with a fine win over Christchurch United. A 2-1 victory at Linfield Park saw the guys move in to second spot with one game to play. First half goals from Dom McGarr and Jacob Richards were enough to seal the deal. The Boys now turn their attention to Cashmere Tech and an English Cup Semi Final this Tuesday night. KO is at 7.30pm so lets get a big Coastal crowd to English Park to cheer the lads on to the final.
Good luck Boys!
Buzz- Man of the Match
The regular season has finally come to an end for our youth and juniors. But in case anyone is getting withdrawal symptoms so soon, don’t worry as it is tournament time! If you are interested in watching more football please check out the tournament link here.
It’s also a big congratulations to our U13 Boys CUDL team. The boys were not particular happy with missing out on the top 4 cup competition and proved a point by winning the plate with a close 2-1 victory over the Pride Development team. This was on the back of a thrilling 3-2 victory in the semis v Selwyn.
Great job Guys!
I would like to thank everyone who has helped make this season a successful one. A season that we were not sure would even happen. Your time and commitment to the players and the club is greatly appreciated.
