Dear SCM families,

I’d like to thank all our families at SCM for working alongside our school as we navigate through all that 2020 continues to dish out. As we head into fall, please continue to reference our Operating Plan when your child is ill. Remember, your child needs to be 72 hours symptom free before they can return to school. Please let the office and your child’s teacher know of any absences or late arrivals. We will be calling to follow up with families we do not hear from. As always, if you have any questions, you can always reach out. We’re more than happy to get you answers or track down the answers for you!

I would like to take the time to thank all our staff at SCM. Many are juggling both in person learning along with Distance Learning. Also, with all the new safety guidelines, we’ve had to find some creative ways to fill spots when there aren’t subs available. The staff at SCM have been flexible and willing to pivot as needed.  We have some of the absolute best people working here and I am so appreciative. During these interesting and challenging times the love and strength of our community is clear and strong.

Thank you,

Kim

Family Education Workshop

Modeling Inclusive and Respectful Behavior for Our Children

Oct. 8th at 6:30

This workshop created for families, aims to create a positive and supportive learning environment where the art of dialog guides challenging conversations around issues of social equity, inclusion and the important work of Anti-Bias Education with children and families. Through the sharing of our own stories and a deeper reflection on personal bias, we will gain insights that will allow us to better understand today’s current dialog, language and events many of us struggle to negotiate with young children. Participants will focus on building literacy around power and privilege, emergent social identities, allied behavior and practice strong dialog principles to better model for our children empathy and respect for all people.
