Dear Friend,

We are all hearing about Voting issues these days. Some of them are positive -- are you registered? Do you have a Voting Plan? Some are less positive and go so far as to claim (wrongly, as you will see below) potential voter fraud. We wanted to provide you with a few resources to review as you hear about these things and to provide you with facts as you talk to friends and family about them.

Are People Registering to Vote? YES!
In fact, voter registration is up in Eagle County! We’d like to take full credit for this, given our yard signs, posters, postcards, bus signs, in-person voter registration efforts, and our emails to all of you, but -- whatever the cause -- yay!

Is There Really a Risk of Significant Voter Fraud? NO!
This article in the New York Times, dated September 30, 2020, is a comprehensive five-month investigation of alleged voter fraud situations. The conclusion: statements claiming extensive voter fraud are false, and instead represent an effort to intimidate voters. “Despite the attention paid to it by [Trump] administration officials [including Vice President Pence] and the right-wing news media, voter fraud is a largely non-existent problem. Law enforcement officials have repeatedly failed to find major wrongdoing in cases hyped for political gain, often based on sloppy data analysis.”

What are some good resources for ensuring I’m ready to vote?

  1. Read our emails! And go back and read our previous emails -- we have summaries of significant issues, including ballot measures, that make it easy to find information and do your own research.
  2. The Colorado Sun just announced a new “pop up source of information” about voting for Coloradans. You can sign up to get the newsletter called “It’s Time to Vote” here. You have probably noticed we cite that newspaper often. It is a non-partisan source of news, it focuses on Colorado, and there is no paywall!
  3. Check out the Eagle County Clerk & Recorder’s website for locations of drop boxes, hours of Voter Service Centers and much more.
  4. After checking your voter registration here, sign up to track your ballot here
  5. Review a composite ballot for your county here. Or if your primary language is Spanish, here.
