Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) is a not-for-profit non-government organization working towards popularization of science and technology in various parts of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Since its inception in 2009, the Society has conducted numerous activities to develop scientific temperament among people at large. The Society has completed its eleven years and the Year 2020 is another year of accomplishments. During this year of COVID-19 Pandemic, the Online reach of the Society has increased manifold. Nobel Prize in Physics 2020 announced on October 06, 2020

The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded jointly to Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez on Tuesday for their discoveries that have bettered understanding of the universe, including work on black holes. Dr. Penrose was awarded half the prize “for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity,”  and the second half was split between Dr. Genzel and Dr. Ghez “for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the center of our galaxy,”.

Online Essay & Poster competition on "Coronavirus Pandemic - Problems & Solutions" was organized to engage the students amid lockdown. More than 2500 students from seventeen states participated. Twenty-three students were awarded cash prizes and e-Certificates were given to all the students.

Under the aegis of Mobile Science Laboratory, Supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, a camp was organized at the line of maximum eclipse near Kurukshetra to LIVE TELECAST the rare celestial event on June 21, 2020.
