LATEST NEWS
Infection Control Fund
The Infection Control Fund has been extended until March 2021 to ensure providers have the resources they need to halt transmission of COVID-19 throughout winter.
Care providers (including care homes, domiciliary providers and other community/home providers) in England will benefit from this new extra funding to reduce COVID-19 transmission and help protect residents, staff and other service users throughout winter. The fund will help care providers pay staff full wages when they are self-isolating and enable staff to work in only one care home, thus reducing the risk of spreading the infection.
If you are already receiving Infection Control Fund payments you should automatically continue to receive money under the extended scheme. If payments stop, your organisation’s key contact person should immediately get in touch with their existing local DHSC Infection Control contact person and formally request a resumption of payments.
Care Home Visiting Arrangements
The Department of Health & Social Care has today updated its policies for visiting arrangements in care homes. Click the link below for the DHSC document:
Please find attached a Covid-19 briefing prepared for us by Sir Henry Boyle, highlighting the key actions needed to be taken by care providers following publication of the Government’s Adult Social Care Winter Plan 2020 to 2021.
Staff Recruitment News
A new project, Get into Health Care (www.getintohealthcare.co.uk), aims to provide unemployed people with the skills, awareness and knowledge to help them find work within the health and care sector, whether in direct care related roles such as patient care, caring for the elderly or in associated job areas such as customer service, reception, administration, finance, hospitality, cleaning, portering, patient transport and so on.
The courses are aimed at people from all levels of learning who are looking for jobs within the health and care sector and will provide learners with a tailored route into their chosen career area, and involve online and face to face learning, job search support and employer engagement throughout.
To be eligible for the courses, learners need to be unemployed, 19+ and live within one of the following boroughs: Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Bromley, Enfield, Greenwich, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Barnet, Hackney, Haringey, Lewisham, Southwark or Tower Hamlets.
We would like to hear from employers from within these boroughs. Let us know what you would like to see in a programme to help us to help prepare potential job applicants. Can you spare some time to come along and speak to our learners about your company and the work you do? Would you be able to offer interview practice or work experience to our learners as part of their course?
Also, we would like to hear from employers who may need help with recruiting and training new staff. We can offer free courses to any of your applicants who may not yet have the level of skills or knowledge that you need to meet your requirements. We can help them to become job-ready before you interview them.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch, we would love to hear from you. Contact Andy Marriott on 02085225734 or at andrew.marriott@newham.ac.uk
