Weekly Notices - 4th October 2020 - Harvest Festival

4th October 2020

Harvest Festival

For the next two weeks, we will be celebrating Harvest Festival.
A time of thanksgiving for God's provisions and His blessings for others.

Harvest is an opportunity to revisit our focus on Creationtide and give thanks for the creation and production of food, especially those that are local. It is also an opportunity to pray for and with the farming community, many of whom are struggling to make a living in today’s global economic climate.

For the Lord your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.
Deuteronomy 16: 15

Please Pray For
Our Community: for all those in our community serving others, especially Doctors, Nurses & Carers but also to all those unsung heroes that do so much behind the scenes whether that be in a professional nature or as a gift of thanks to others.

Our Country: for all local and country wide farmers as they bring in harvests, especially those that are struggling.  Give them strength and keep them safe each day to reap in bountiful harvests to share with others.
For Students: for all those that have now returned to Universities and colleges or are starting their first term.  Keep them protected in this time of change.

Those unwell & recovering: for God's healing on all those in pain and suffering, especially for John Keast.

Those grieving the loss of loved ones especially for the life of Jorge Aguilar-Agon (Salome Laschinger's father) and for Salome, Guy, Heidi and Anya mourning his death.
A Special Prayer

For the swift and safe release of Revd Chris Dariya and his son Jos, who have been abducted in Nigeria. CSW would also welcome prayer for wisdom as to how to respond on his behalf.

Decorating the Lychgate
In celebration of the Harvest Service on Sunday 11th October at St Mary's Church, the lychgate will be decorated with fruits, flowers, vegetables, nuts and berries.
We wish to make this a community project, therefore, please bring any contributions from your gardens, allotments or local hedgerows to the church on Saturday 10th October from 9.30am.  It will be great to see you and any edible contributions will be given to charity when we dismantle.
