Couch to 5K - Beginners Running Programme

Having the support of others is a great way to stay motivated and running together can be great fun. Our Couch to 5K programme will help build your fitness and endurance, over 9 weeks with the support from a qualified run leader. This programme is suitable for complete beginners.

Dates: Tuesday 3 November 2020 through until Tuesday 12 January 2021
(excludes Tuesday 22 December and Tuesday 29 December)  
Time: 9.30 - 10.15am
Location: Moors Valley Country Park, Golf & Activity Centre, BH24 2ET
Cost: £9 per person for all 9 weeks

Moors Valley Runners

The Moors Valley Runners are a friendly and welcoming community group of mixed ability runners who meet at Moors Valley Golf & Activity Centre, every Tuesday morning at 9.30am - 10.30am. Sessions are free of charge and are suitable for those who can run at least 5k (slowly is fine).

The sessions are led by qualified volunteer run leaders who can help to support you towards developing your fitness levels with fun drills and challenges.

Booking is essential for a 9-week block. Please call 01425 480811 for the first time you book so the Health & Activity Team can register your details. This will enable you to book online for future blocks.

The next block starts on Tuesday 12 January 2021, a perfect opportunity to burn off the Christmas pudding or as a progression from the couch to 5k programme.

Sue's Running Journey

"Running was never my thing! Everyone else around me ran, my husband ran marathons, friends & other family members too. I just supported and watched in awe, amazement and total appreciation of this exceptional feat.
As you get older you start to question your choices in life and health & fitness become more of a priority! 

A lifetime of fad diets and glimpses of visits to the gym had taken a negative toll on my body. One of my best friends suggested we do the couch to 5k, which at the time I thought - I’m not sure!
However having the privilege of living by the sea and feeling quite envious every time my husband ran along the shore line. I decided now was the time to don the Lycra and invest in some running shoes & give it a go!"
