On Monday, September 21, Exponation, the Atlanta-based company that produces multiple trade shows and conferences, including LightShow West and LED Specifier Summit, filed for bankruptcy in Georgia Northern Bankruptcy Court.  

The Denver LED Specifier Summit planned for April 2021 is canceled.  The very popular bi-annual LightShow West trade show scheduled for September 2021 is canceled.

Acuity has entered a strategic partnership deal with Ushio to incorporate filtered far UV-C modules into select general lighting luminaires, which will be available in late 2020.

DS: USCB researchers create phosphor-free white LEDs for efficient, polarized light.

A new LED manufacture method which does not require phosphor to make white semipolar LED was published by a research team of UCSB with Shuji Nakamura, Nobel winner and LED pioneer, as a co-author. The result was published in Optics Express.

DS: Australian company files IP suits against Hubbell and three others.

Hubbell and 3 Others Hit with Patent Lawsuits

Hubbell Incorporated is being sued by Kortek Industries for allegedly violating four of the company’s patents relating to automated wireless power and lighting control...If it feels like there’s been a spike in intellectual property claims throughout the lighting industry, that is just a microcosm of what is happening in all industries in recent months.
