Nalox-ZONE
Community-placed Opioid Overdose Prevention Project

On September 9, 2020, Wisconsin Voices for Recovery began installing boxes containing the life-saving medication naloxone in select Madison locations as part of its Nalox-ZONE – Community-placed Opioid Overdose Prevention project. This one-year pilot program, sponsored by Milwaukee-based pharmacy solutions company Serve You Rx, plans to install boxes in select areas of Dane, Dodge and Milwaukee counties that Wisconsin Voices for Recovery has identified as “hot zones” due to repeated incidences of overdose occurring in or near those locations.

Each box will contain naloxone nasal spray as well as instructions on how to administer the drug and information about resources for treatment and recovery support. The naloxone is provided through the Wisconsin Voices for Recovery ED2 Recovery program, which is supported by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services through Wisconsin's State Opioid Response Grant.
