Newsletter Oct 2020

Good morning,

I thought about including one of my orange air photos of Mount Diablo from a few weeks back for the first photo in this newsletter...but on second thought I felt like the Halloween one would bring a smile to more faces!! I guess this year, they will be wearing masks, not that there's much for the virus to hang onto on these two characters :-)!

Did you know that the moon will be visible to the whole world this Halloween?  Jeffrey Hunt (astronomy educator) says that that last time this occurred was in 1944!! Wow!

We have a real treat for you in this month's newsletter with some adorably cute kids in the latest and greatest!  I find that kids can pretty much do anything and still pull off a great picture...but these twins really stole the show!!

The business spotlight is from a recent session I had with a wonderful jewelry designer.  She is so talented and creates and sells her products for donation to local non-profits...read all about her story below...what she's passionate about and how it all got started!

The monthly special introduces holiday mini sessions and I'm excited to be offering them this year for the first time!!  Affordable, short and hassle free!! Details below and please go to my website which has all the location details and booking links.

For the photographer in you continues with the family portrait theme and offers portrait advice and guidelines for anyone thinking of booking family portraits or attempting to capture pictures themselves.

My own camera fun comes from a couple of hikes on Diablo...when the air was clear...probably the last few pictures I'll share of the mountain before it takes on its fall and winter look with a bit more greenery.

Finally the panoramic comes from a paddle boarding afternoon on the bay...one of my favorite things to do!

Thank you for reading this...do continue on to see more of my work...and as always follow us on social (links are at the top of this introduction).

Have a wonderful October and I'll be back after Halloween (look out...it's a full moon)!

Latest and Greatest - Sunny Family Photography

When I download the pictures from a session and take that first look over the collection, it's often a bit like opening a present!  A small rush of excitement and intrigue and then relief that everything was captured and saved!  It’s one of my favorite parts of the post session editing process!

During every session, I always try to incorporate something I haven’t don’t before as well...and it’s a race to see where those images are and whether or not my little experiment worked!!!

This particular family session was part of a bigger session including two families and the grandparents.  I am so happy to be able to capture this kind of thing and bring images and artwork to families. It is very hard to be present with those you love if you are trying to also record the moment for future memories.

Children change so quickly and one year in a young life can see many changes as they race towards growing up. Thank you so much for sharing your family with me and entrusting me with capturing memories for you, you were a delight to work with!!

Business Spotlight - None-Profit - Maddy Jane Designs

Introducing Maddy Jane Designs ~ I was super excited to photograph this business recently and also to share it with you in this newsletter!  I had such fun on this session with the lead designer and two of her models who rocked the jewelry in style. Please read more about the business below.  Just in case you think she'd get bored designing jewelry, she also has cookery and succulent businesses to manage...you can read all about them on her website.
Say Hello to Maddy Jane Designs, an on-line jewelry business that brings you distinctive jewelry with giving back to the communities in mind.  Every piece of jewelry is made, by my hands, at my home in Walnut Creek. Each element is sourced and carefully selected before being beautifully and artistically arranged with love. Maddy Jane Designs strive to be more than just a typical jewelry company.  We are unique because our mission is unique – 100% of our net proceeds support charity organizations. That means with every jewelry purchase, you give back to a good cause. There is no mass production in Maddy Jane Designs. Each item is one of a kind. Once it is sold, there will not be the exact same piece available.
I got a taste of the American dream when I came to the U.S from Vietnam as an immigrant 40 years ago. With more time on my hands now, my wish is to devote my creativity and use my talents to inspire others.  My dream is to share the success and happiness of what life has given me with those around me.  Maddy Jane Designs is born to make my dream come true.  When you wear Maddy Jane Designs jewelry, you look beautiful. Your heart feels kindness. Your heart feels grateful for what life has given you and that you’re giving back.
Previously established in 2004, Hanh Le Design produced handcrafted and eclectic jewelry sold at various art shows in California and other states. Now launched as Maddy Jane Designs after my beautiful first granddaughter, Madelyn Jane. It is my hope that as my granddaughter grows up, she will learn to be grateful, to give back, and to have empathy for people who are less fortunate. The world will be a better place, a kinder place if everyone cares for each other a little. Yes, just a little.
We had a different mission, a different purpose, in mind when we created Maddy Jane Designs. Each piece is a true labor of love; our products are made with great energy and sustainable quality, with the proceeds going directly to someone in need.

There are many amazing charitable organizations and we select a few organizations that we donate to throughout the year. Then switch our donations to specific organizations depending on their needs. This allows us to share our love and our kindness to all.

If you have a specific charity organization that you would like to support, please email us at hellomaddyjane@gmail.com more details.  We could easily host a jewelry party and 100% of the net proceeds would go directly to your preferred charity organization.
Our business is expanding to other fun adventures on cooking classes and designing planters....check our website to find out more!

Little Ditty About My Own Camera Fun - Hiking Diablo

Mount Diablo has seen many changes this year, with long periods of being closed and intense smoke. I’m sharing a few pictures from a recent hike I was able to do when the weather was clear.

Panoramic Passion - Paddleboarding on the Bay

Those of you who follow me probably know that I am a fan of water and paddleboard in on the beach. The panoramic passion this month comes from a photograph I took in the bay. A wonderful pelican with the San Francisco backdrop. Not a bad place to hang out as a pelican or a paddleborder!!!

Follow me on Instagram to see how I post these panoramic images threeup @traceymedcalfephotography
