The Insider's Guide for Shoreline Lake Visitors
Just a heads up about upcoming Shoreline Lake Fall activities. If you want to enjoy the warm weather and get out into some wide open spaces, there's lots to do.

With regard to kids activities, another Weekend Camp Session is coming up, as well as additional "After-Home School" sessions for mixed watersports and Laser Sailing! Besides outdoor patio dining, the American Bistro will also be showcasing this year's Shoreline-exclusive apple harvest, as well as expanding on the current menu options.

And, kids aren't the only ones allowed to have fun here, as weekend classes continue in all water sports, Shoreline can now offer online booking of boat rentals once again, and the Gear Sale is coming up, plus more. Enjoy!

Organized Kids Activities
Shoreline Lake Weekend Camps

New October Weekend Camps Session

Since watersports based activities have helped burn off a lot of extra energy for kids still at home, we've added another Session of the weekend camps (October 3, 4, 10, 11). NB! Given the demand for the previous sessions, we recommend signing your child up today.

Designed as weekend versions of Shoreline's camps, and given the waitlist requests, this new October session now covers six Programs. All are COVID-19 compliant organized outdoor sports options (for children ages 5-16), and also provide kids with a chance to get some real social interaction:

  • Camp Shoreline
  • Paddle Adventure
  • Beginner Windsurfing & Sailing
  • Advanced Windsurfing & Sailing
  • Advanced Sailing (Laser)
  • Performance Laser Sailing

Online registration is available. However, Shoreline must restrict the number of campers in each Program to maintain “stable” groups (and sub-groups) of maximum twelve campers. For additional details about mask requirements and other safety measures, please check out the Parent FAQs page or contact the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com or 650-965-7474).

Shoreline Lake After-Home School Programs

Continuing "After-Home School" Programs

Due to demand, Shoreline is adding more sessions of the 4-Week After-Home School Programs for October, both of which will be held from 3:30-5:30pm to accommodate a variety of schedules:

Mixed Watersports - October 5-28 (Mondays & Wednesdays, Ages 8-13)

Laser Sailing - October 6-29 (Tuesdays & Thursdays, Ages 11-16)

With kids forced to hang out at home, these programs help replace shuttered team sports programs. Besides keeping cool, having fun and burning off energy, kids can challenge themselves by learning fundamental skills for a variety of paddlesports and sailing, as well as engage in teamwork and critical thinking, with a bit of friendly competition mixed in. (Plus, kids receive personalized attention in small COVID-19 compliant groups from dedicated staff, and no mixing allowed between the groups).

Online registration is open, and the Boathouse is happy to answer your questions, if you need more info (boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474).

Bistro News
Shoreline Lake Apple Harvest

Sweet & Juicy Apple Harvest

The fourth Shoreline-exclusive apple harvest has commenced! Galas and Golden Delicious are now available for sale at the American Bistro (with Scarlet Spur, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp and Pippin varieties making their appearance soon).

These delectable fruits come from the Pescadero ranch of Christina Ferrari (who runs the Boathouse & Bistro) and her family, and are available for a limited time only. Make sure to get yours, as previous harvests of these unique, super-local, and very tasty organic fruit have sold out quickly.

Small bags ($5), large bags ($10) and boxes (approximately 25-27lbs, $20) will be available. If you have questions about the varieties or would like to reserve a selection, please contact the Bistro at: bistro@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-1745

Shoreline Lake Bistro Patio

Waterfront Outdoor Dining

And, to enjoy your apples on-site, the American Bistro patio can offer a perfect view. Plus, the patio remains a good choice as an uncrowded escape for lunch, an espresso or ice cream outdoors on weekdays, and for anyone in need of a break from virtual schooling and working from home. Over the next few days, keep an eye out for expanded menu offerings!

As for public safety protocols, please be aware that Bistro staff are now serving tableside (seating spaced for social distancing compliance), and that food prepped for takeaway can be enjoyed at the patio, or as a picnic. While Bistro staff maintain an eye on things, a self-sanitizing station is also available. In addition, Shoreline Lake ensures segregation of kids in organized programs from Bistro patrons.

If you have questions, would like to pre-order menu items, or need to make a reservation, please contact the Bistro at: bistro@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-1745

Shoreline Lake Watersports Classes

Private & Group Weekend Classes

Registration is still open for group, as well as private, instruction for weekend watersports classes (with many, from Beginner to Advanced, continuing through November). Teen or adult, these classes (Sailing, Kayaking, Windsurfing, SUP and SUP Yoga) are great for enjoying the warm weather and get your mind off everything else.

The variety of classes are a good fit with most schedules, but for a more flexible one-on-one option, Shoreline offers plenty of private and semi-private instruction.

Online registration is available for the group classes. (Limited to max 10 people per group class session, each person is allotted their own vessel/equipment, with the lecture portion held outdoors, and equipment disinfected per the County Order.)

To learn more though, or register for a private class, please contact the Boathouse at: boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474

Community Input Please

A big thank you, first off, to everyone who has provided feedback regarding our new programs!

We have also had some inquiries about offering land-based or non-watersports outdoor fitness classes and boot camps on the waterfront lawn, and wanted to pose that possibility as well. If that sounds like something you would like to see at Shoreline, please email the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com).

In addition we're also trying to gauge interest for the type of personal and special events that would make sense when restrictions on gatherings are eased (This information helps us allocate resources, and prepare – as much as possible in these circumstances – for next year.). If you do have a perspective on this, please email events@shorelinelake.com or call 650-965-3779 .

If you know of someone who might be interested on either of these topics, please pass this along... Again, thank you very much!!
