Join the Stress Management Live Webinar

A free stress management live webinar will be offered on October 7 at 1:30 p.m. Stress permeates our lives and our vocabulary, but is all stress bad? In this interactive workshop, participants will analyze good versus bad stress and how to best cope in our busy, fast-paced demanding lives. Participants will learn strategies for managing stress and easy-to-use coping techniques. For more information and to register, click on the UofSC Human Resources  Training Calendar.

Be a UofSC Homecoming judge
UofSC Homecoming 2020 will be taking place from Oct. 12 - 23, and this year’s theme is “The Roaring 20s: The Cockiest Decade Yet!” The Homecoming Commission is in search of some spirited faculty/staff on campus who can serve as judges for some of their events throughout their two week celebration. Flu shots are now available for students, faculty and staff
To make sure we can maintain physical distancing, the health center will require students, faculty and staff to make an appointment for their flu shot. Flu vaccines will be available by appointment between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Center for Health and Well-Being. Schedule your appointment online.

2021 orientation leader application is now open
Students can now submit applications to be a 2021 orientation leader. Orientation leaders serve as mentors, resources and role models for incoming Gamecocks; represent the university; and share their Gamecock pride with over 6,500 new students and 5,000 family members each year. Know of a student who may be interested? Recommend them for the position.

Become a U101 Instructor
University 101 is accepting applications for new instructors for fall 2021. Your ‘Surge Capacity’ Is Depleted — It’s Why You Feel Awful
"It was the end of the world as we knew it, and I felt fine. That’s almost exactly what I told my psychiatrist at my March 16 appointment, a few days after our children’s school district extended spring break because of the coronavirus. I said the same at my April 27 appointment, several weeks after our state’s stay-at-home order." -Elemental

Remote Networking as a Person of Color
"In this new era of remote work and physical distancing, large group, in-person professional networking events have been put on hold. The same is true for in-person, internal, in-company interactions that foster the development of meaningful connections and relationships. While some people are desperately pining away for the return of happy hours, coffee breaks, and professional conferences, many others are relieved that they are no longer pressured to network. In fact, it’s fair to say that many hate instrumental networking — they are uncomfortable with its seemingly self-promoting, transactional nature, and research finds that some people quite literally find it icky." -Harvard Business Review

Campus Conversation

“This year is an election year and I'm a member of CLEAT, the Civic Leadership Education and Action Team, under the umbrella of the Leadership and Service Center. I'm very passionate about encouraging civic advocacy, and I believe this is a vital time for students to get involved."
