Orange Shirt Day

This past Sunday, many congregations across Canada marked Orange Shirt Day, honouring children who went to Residential Schools. Watch Indigenous Justice and Reconciliation Animator Sara Stratton's sermon, and read a powerful reflection from former Healing Programs Coordinator Honarine Scott.

If you take part in Orange Shirt Day tomorrow (September 30), be sure to snap a photo and post it to social media using the hashtags #OrangeShirtDay, #EveryChildMatters, and #UCCan. You can also email your photos to Sara Stratton, at sstratton@united-church.ca.

Canadian Network for Corporate Accountability: Virtual Rally

Over the summer, more than 6,000 Canadians signed a petition calling for Canadian corporations to uphold human rights and protect the environment abroad. We need to keep that momentum going. Consider participating in this virtual rally organized by United Church partner Canadian Network for Corporate Accountability, and support United Church global partners who ask us to ensure that Canadian corporations are held accountable for their actions.

When: Sunday October 18 at 4:00 p.m. EDT, 1:00 p.m. PDT.

2020 Statistical Blue Forms Update

In this unprecedented time, to calculate your average weekly attendance for your 2020 annual statistical submission, please add the number of people in in-person worship to the online count and report that number. We are aware that while the online count might be inflated by people coming into and out of a stream/broadcast, there doesn’t appear to be any way to take that into account. For Year Book purposes, the column will be marked with an asterisk and a footnote added to indicate why the figures might be significantly different from other years. Should you have any questions, please contact statistics@united-church.ca.
