National Voices Members' Update: 1 October 2020

Two important National Voices reports released this coming week

Dear <<First Name>>,

We have two reports coming out in the next week that provide clear insight into people's experiences of health and care during the 'first wave' of COVID-19.

One includes analysis of 66,000 collective responses to National Voices members' surveys - we have called this WHAT WE KNOW NOW. Alongside a number of member organisations we extended the National Voices reach and created a compelling picture of people's struggles - and successes. You can view this report when it is available on our website on Saturday via this link: https://www.nationalvoices.org.uk/news-media/news-item/new-report-what-we-know-now [**PLEASE NOTE: THE REPORT IS ONLY AVAILABLE AFTER 9AM ON SATURDAY**]

The second report includes powerful testimony from those who contributed to the Our COVID Voices platform and also includes some new National Voices I Statements and recommendations on how to adapt services to be more effective and fair for those using those services.

We have called this WHAT WE NEED NOW, and this report will be launched on Tuesday at a webinar, which we invite you to join to hear about the report, hear from some of the contributors, and also from guest speakers Donal O'Donoghue, Registrar at the Royal College of Physicians, and Des Holden, Medical Director at the Kent Surrey and Sussex Academic Health Science Network. National Voices exists to bring together the voices of people using health and care services, and their organisations, which means we will be working more creatively and collaboratively with members and partners to get those voices heard in these difficult and challenging times,
best wishes

National Voices launches Annual Report

We have launched our new Annual Report 2020 (up to 31 March 2020). The working year saw National Voices shape a new strategy through a member engagement process and we moved towards working more clearly with rather than for members, and alongside people who live with ill health or impairment.

Please have a look at our Annual Report for more details of a challenging year but one we are proud to say saw National Voices once again develop its role in promoting person-centred care.

New Health and Social Care Committee report

National Voices is proud to have contributed to the new Health and Social Care Committee report that praises NHS staff and suggests new measures to prevent the NHS becoming a COVID-only service. You can read the report on the government website.

Welcome, The Sleep Charity!

They work to address poor sleep and it's link with mental health and have just launched a new project called the Teen Sleep Hub in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund and Coronavirus Mental Health Response Fund.
