October 1-15, 2020
Dear Grad Students,
It’s no secret that the transition from graduate school to employment is a difficult one that the current economic crises has exacerbated. Many of you may be looking to careers beyond the faculty and tenure-track but feel at a loss about how to make the necessary connections and properly present yourself to employers.
If these concerns are relevant to you, I highly encourage you to attend the Career Center’s upcoming virtual 2020 Master’s & PhD Career Fair. This fair is exclusively for graduate students and is an opportunity for you to meet with recruiters looking for Master’s, PhDs, and postdocs for work in a wide variety of roles and industries.
If you’ve never been to a career fair, don’t worry! The Career Center has prepared a detailed and helpful student guide for attending virtual career fairs and is offering a pre-event workshop "Preparing for the Master's/PhD Career Fair" on Thursday, October 1 from 3:30-5 p.m. (PT). You can also read this 2017 article from GradNews, "What’s It Like to Attend a Career Fair?," to get the most out of your career fair experience.
The career fair will be held on Thursday, October 15 from noon-4 p.m. (PT). Be sure to register in advance and sign up for one-on-one and group sessions in order to secure your spot.
