General News

Last day of September already!
One month closer to summer tomorrow members! And for us here at the Club, that must mean lazy weekend days by the pool, BBQs, jugs of cider or raspberry and lemonade - not to mention the delicious smell of sunscreen wafting around! We're starting to process pool key applications - see further along for more information on this.

Feast your eyes upon this glorious pic of the pool just now - simply replace the jug of water with your favourite tipple and dream away!

Membership Cards - we've had a flurry of members paying their subs - many thanks for this. If we have an email address on file for you then you would have received your invoice by email back at the end of June or so, and if we didn't have an email address (well then you won't be reading this for a start will you! ) we posted the invoices out.
If you don't think you received one, we can resend or you can just pay  in person at the bar or using internet banking - we're not fussy how you do it!

But one extremely thing to note - you must be a fully paid up member in order to be eligible to win any membership draw money - so if you haven't paid and wish to remain a member, please do so asap.

Membership Draws - this Friday 2nd October is another MUST GO Mega Membership draw!  It's a whopping $3025 this week - wouldn't that be amazing to get your hands on?
For new members, here's an explanation about how it works;
We have fantastic sponsors who contribute financially each week toward our membership draws. This increases the draw amount by $200 per week for each week the draw isn't struck.
We also have 'turbo' sponsors who contribute financially as well - this amount builds up behind the scenes each week, and once a draw is struck we add the built up turbo amount to the starting amount of $200 for the following week. So, the starting amount always used to be $200, but because of the turbo amount added to it it may be more.
Draws can run for a maximum of 13 weeks - once that 13 week mark is reached we have to have a MUST GO night. This is a legal requirement. The dollar amount for a MUST GO draw varies, depending on how much turbo sponsorship money has built up in the background - so the MUST GO draw amount is not dollar dependent, it's based on the number of weeks since it was last struck.

Another note re being eligible for draws - we print out a membership list prior to each draw - this is a list of all members who've paid their subs. If you've not paid, your name will not be on this list, therefore if your number is randomly drawn in the membership draw you will not be able to claim the winnings.

Restaurant - we're thrilled to say that we're back with a roar in the restaurant - the carvery enjoyed a rollicking busy few nights last week and we received some great feedback which was great. Thanks to all member who dined with us last week and we look forward to seeing you this week.

Note - we have a large event booked in the restaurant on Saturday night, so we're setting up our pop up restaurant in the Rimu Room for all other members. We'll have the carvery set up in there, or you can order from the a la carte menus if you wish.

Questions? Please email on office@ctclubrotorua.co.nz, attention Sarah.

Housekeeping / Working Bee (plus a beer!!)

You know, I bet you've been thinking lately... 'if only there were a way I could do something for the Club, give a little of my time to maybe tidy things up a little....'
Well have we got a deal for you!!
We're looking for a few lovely people to help clear the fenceline up a little - we'd also love it if you could bring a trailer and some garden tools - spades and rakes etc.

Time and date: Saturday 17th October at 8:00am. Please let Gordon or Kathleen know if you're able to help.

Thanks to the couple of members who've put their hands up already - much appreciated. We're still after a few more though - so please let Gordon or Kathleen know.
Oh - and did we mention there'll be a beer in it for you afterwards?? Cheers!!

Clubs NZ App

Who uses this? A handy little app, especially if you're travelling around the country - you can use it to find other Clubs to visit.

Take a look at the Clubs NZ website - if you scroll to the bottom of the front page you'll find more information about the app. We've got some leaflets on the bar as well if you'd like to pick one up.

Motorsports Car Sales Courtesy Van

Our van operates Thursday to Sunday from 3:00pm.
We expect we'll be extra busy on our Membership Draw nights this week, especially Friday and Saturday nights, so  please give us plenty of notice if you can that you'd like a pick up on these days - give us a call on 3478301 during opening hours, go through to the bar and book your pick up time.
To get home again, we make regular announcements throughout the night when the van is leaving shortly, so you just need to get yourself out into the foyer and hop on.

For new members who don't know about this - this is a free service but we would appreciate it if you could drop a donation in the box on the bar. Thank you!

Halloween Kids' Party

October 31st (Halloween) falls on a Saturday this year -so let's get together for our annual Halloween Kids' party!
Before we start planning - can we please have a show of hands who would be interested in attending? We generally get a 0 to 13 age range, but all kids are welcome.
We're looking at Saturday 31st October, 2:00pm to 4:00pm here at the Club - no charge to attend - lots of yummy spooky nibbles for the kids, perhaps a movie playing, games, and prizes for the best costumes.
I'll put an 'expressions of interest' form on the bar -please fill out your kids' names and ages if they'd like to attend, and we'll firm things up once we've got numbers.

Questions - drop me a line at office@ctclubrotorua.co.nz attention Sarah.

Whisky Tasting Evening - SOLD OUT

What a great response we had to this - the event is being held tonight and is sold out. We'll publish an article about it in an upcoming newsletter and it might entice you to join in with the next one!

Pool News

Not long to go members! Last year we opened the pool around Labour Weekend - and that's only about 3.5 weeks away now! It is weather dependent of course, so if we have any more icy blasts we may need to rethink it.
We've had a good number of pool key applications through - I will be processing them over the next couple of weeks as well as sending invoices for this year if you already have one. We don't like to post keys out, so once I've completed your new applications I'll contact you to let you know to pick your key up at the bar.

Let the countdown to pool weather begin!

The next 8 Ball Fun NIght is Tuesday 13th  October - come along for a fun night - everyone is welcome.

We'd all meet here at the Club at 9:00am Sunday 11th October for transport over to Ohope, and arrive back in Rotorua around 4:30pm.
If you're interested, please put your name on the poster on the Billiard Room notice board. Any questions please ask John.

Golf News

Our next round is our Club Champs on Sunday 18th October at Lakeview at 10:00am.

Darts

We've been advised that due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the reluctance of members to attend larger gatherings, City Club 2000 has advised that the Darts Nationals have been postponed until 2021.

On a positive note though, how about these fabulous new dartboards at the Club?? Looking good!

Weekly Membership Draws

Friday is a MUST GO draw - we've had a number of new members join recently, so here's an explanation of what this means.
When a draw has been running for a certain number of weeks, we reach a time when it must be struck. This means we'll do the draw as usual at 7:00pm (or, if on a Thursday it will be directly after the President's speech at 7:00pm). If that first draw does not result in a winner, then we'll keep drawing numbers at regular announced intervals throughout the evening until a winner is found.
