S.I. Final at Sunnyvale..... OK, its what we've been waiting for ... Saturday, Sunnyvale 2.30 - a chance to test our Green Island SPL Champs against coach Dean Hutchinson's impressive Chch side Cashmere Tech - who have not lost many matches in the last decade...
All true Otago supporters will be giving the lads in Green a Shout... and lets face it - in a David and Goliath contest, the odds are stacked towards Cashmere's vastly more experienced side which has many players rated at National League level.
The Island's team is younger and 'raw' in comparison, but Shane and Foz have instilled great spirit in their side, and maybe they can take a leaf from John Wilkinson's Otago team that went north as underdogs against the mighty Auckland - and brought the Winfield Shield to Dunedin a few years back - yes.... it can happen..... contact me rabsmith1939@gmail.com Click Pics to ENLARGE

The Spirit of Sunnyvale
Shane says, ' The GI boys are excited about hosting Cashmere Tech at our home of Sunnyvale come Saturday. We welcome them to Dunedin but realise in Cashmere Tech we are up against a classy outfit who have won the Mainland Premier League for 2020 in such a remarkable fashion. ( see Table above ..)
We know we will have to step up as for many of our team it is probably the biggest game of their lives to date.
I think I count at least 12 of their players who have National League experience and we have no illusions of the enormity of the task, but hope in front of our home supporters and for the Football South region we can put in a strong and creditable performance
Hard to Ignore experience of 600 Cashmere Caps ...
