You are invited to Greater Sydney Landcare Network's Annual General Meeting for 2020...
This year we will have special guest speaker Dr Kellie Leigh, from Science for Wildlife. She did an amazing job rescuing Koalas from the recent horrific fires in the Blue Mountains, providing them refuge in Taronga Zoo and then releasing them when it was safe to do so. Now Kellie is monitoring them with volunteers to track their behaviour back in the wild.
In addition to this, we will have updates on our Creating Canopies project, Streamwatch, young adult engagement, sustainable agriculture workshops and Landcare SOS.
With Covid you will have the option of attending the AGM in person or joining by Zoom (link to follow with registrations). The venue will be at Sydney Olympic Park however, with a yummy brunch - and, guided walk after the official meeting.
We hope to see you there, in person or online.

CONSTITUTION CHANGES
The Greater Sydney Landcare Network has a few changes to its Constitution which can be viewed below. As part of good Governance we need to notify you, the members of these changes with atleast one month's notice prior to the AGM, in order to get the changes passed at the AGM.
Please consider taking the time to look over the Constitution and proposed changes, make comment to them prior to the AGM and/ or approve their changes at the AGM.

We are looking for Committee members!
The Greater Sydney Landcare Network Committee meets monthly (in person or via zoom) to discuss projects, issues, ideas and Landcare across Greater Sydney in general. The Network is growing in staff, projects and budgets. We need more of you to sit in and help navigate our operations across the Region, especially if you are attached to a landcare or bushcare group. But individuals, students, landholders, researchers, professionals and anyone with an interest are also invited to join the committee. This makes for better governance, and a more informed community group.
Please consider joining or nominating someone else to join, with the form link below. The forms will be collected at the AGM and nominations accepted then. There are executive roles and various sub committees that need more people!

In last summer’s devastating fires, Kangaroo Island lost half of its koala population, with many more left injured and starving. This is the inspiring and sometimes confronting story of someone who went to help and ended up a koala dad.

When Kailas Wild – arborist by trade and conservationist at heart – heard that there were injured koalas on Kangaroo Island who could only be reached by a tree climber, he drove 1500 kms to volunteer.
Seven weeks later, he had crowd-funded sixty-five thousand dollars, participated in the rescue of over 100 koalas and had formed a special bond with a baby koala – Joey Kai. His social media postings gained tens of thousands of views and press attention around Australia and overseas, including the BBC, The Times (London), The New York Times and The Daily Mail.

The 99th Koala shares that experience, in words and pictures, and introduces us to some of the koalas of Kangaroo Island. Sometimes tragic, sometimes hopeful, Kai’s story above all commemorates our unique wildlife, and demonstrates the power of one person trying to make a difference.
