Graag nodig ik u uit bij mijn nieuwste werk op de openingsavond van OORtreders, een internationaal kunst- en muziekfestival, dat zich dit jaar onderdompelt in ‘changing ecologies and new narratives’. Hierin worden mogelijke relaties tussen mens en omgeving onderzocht door middel van geluid. Het festival opent met IMPACT.

Na plots getuige te zijn van een meteoor in de Egyptische woestijn, startte ik een onderzoek naar de impact van een inslag. Het onderzoek mondde uit in het loslaten van een massieve steen van 2.800KG van 30 meter hoogte. Het laat ons achter met een indruk. De vraag is welke… De handgemaakte steen met een  diameter van 1.5m blijft na de val permanent in zijn krater liggen, een nazinderend spoor van deze gebeurtenis.

IMPACT vindt plaats op vrijdag 23 oktober om 19u op Provinciaal Domein Dommelhof te Neerpelt. U kunt het moment gratis bijwonen, maar geef graag een seintje als je komt, zodat we u kunnen registreren. Aansluitend worden de voorstelling ‘Pleasant Island’ (Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere, 20u) en het ‘Curating Lab’ (met gastcurator Christine Eyene, Elsa M’Bala, Mo Laudi, e.a., 20u30) gepresenteerd.

I warmly invite you to attend my newest piece during the opening night of OORtreders, an international art and music festival, which immerses in the themes of ‘changing ecologies and new narratives’, exploring the relationships between man and environment through sound. The festival opens with IMPACT. 

Inspired by witnessing a meteor in the Egyptian desert, I started investigating the impact of an impact. This research led to releasing a handmade stone of 2.800KG from 30m high, which then leaves an impression. The question is, which? After the release, the spherical stone with its 1.5m diameter will be left permanently in its crater, as a haunting remnant of this event.

IMPACT happens at Friday 23 October at 19h at Provinciaal Domein Dommelhof at Neerpelt, Belgium. The event is freely accessible, but we’d love to get a heads up if you’re coming. Following IMPACT, the performance ‘Pleasant Island’ (Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere, 20h) and the ‘Curating Lab’ (guest curator Christine Eyene, Elsa M’Bala, Mo Laudi, a.o., 20h30) are presented.
