Celebrating Our Founders

A Centennial Year at The College of Saint Rose

The College of Saint Rose is celebrating 100 years. “One hundred years ago, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet established Saint Rose on an unshakable foundation – an orientation toward excellence, development of the whole person, creating an inclusive community, serving the dear neighbor, and meeting the needs of the times,” said Marcia J. White '00, Interim President.  A program was streamed on the College’s YouTube channel featured music, a welcome by Interim President Marcia J. White ’00, and historical conversation from the perspective of 1925, reflecting back on the first four years of the College featuring Sr. Sean Peters, CSJ, ’67; Sr. Kitty Hanley, CSJ, Ph.D. ’61; and Sr. Joan Lescinski, CSJ, Ph.D. ’70, G’74.  As part of the celebration, the Saint Rose community was invited to participate in 100 hours for 100 years project.

Founders' Day at Regis College
Regis College celebrated Founders’ Day on September 24 with a theme of, “Calling all neighbors, get into 'good trouble!'”, inspired by Congressman John Lewis’ life and legacy.  The annual event marks the arrival of the Sisters of St. Joseph to Boston in 1837 and usually is a day of service in the community. “While Founders' Day will look different than previous years, it will still personify the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston," said Regis College President Antoinette M. Hays, Ph.D., RN. "Their commitment to activism and service, and the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis, will guide our discussion on racism, equity, and social justice. This is an incredible opportunity to engage with the entire Regis community on how our voices and activism can help put an end to racism.”
