Exciting things happening this month!
We officially welcome Bishop Ronald Hicks as the sixth bishop of the diocese of Joliet! You can watch the installation mass here. Bishop Hicks also celebrated the diocesan college mass on Sunday October 4th at Saint Francis University. You can watch the mass and listen his reflection on friendship here.
Many young adult communities around the diocese are starting to gather again (with precautions, of course) and we will also host Theology on Tap on Catholic social teaching and political life! We hope you can join us and learn together what we are called to do as faithful citizens.

After much prayer and discernment, Sheila Stevenson decided to retire from her position as Director of Young Adult & Campus Ministry of the Diocese of Joliet effective September 30th. She is happy to start this new stage of her life as a pre-K teacher for her granddaughter and enjoy time with her husband who has been retired for 5 years.
We are excited to continue collaborating with such an amazing woman while she stays as volunteer in different initiatives in our diocese! Her energetic creativity and passion for evangelization has been a blessing to our diocese, specially to young adults and those who minister to and with them. A great mentor for many of us and true example of missionary discipleship.
Sheila, thank you for all you have done for God's people in our diocese these past 15 years. Our Lord has touched many hearts through you and the fruits of your labor have not gone unnoticed; they will sustain this office for years to come!

Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship
Join Young Adult Ministry and Brian Hickey, Justice & Peace Associate Director of the Diocese of Joliet for Theology on Tap.
Brian Hickey recently received a Master of Global Affairs degree from the University of Notre Dame, focusing on Catholic Social Teaching and public policy. Before going to Notre Dame, he worked with migrants and refugee children in a school and center for street children in Djibouti from 2017-2018. Brian also taught English literature and leadership at a Palestinian high school in the West Bank and served as a volunteer at Indiana State Prison for several years.

It’s not about an extraordinary act, it is in the ordinary that we can be Holy in ourselves, in our Family, in our Work, and in our Community. Our community has always united people through prayer. While the pandemic creates division, we continue to stand together amidst these difficult times to live out our true calling: to be holy, for God is Holy.

We are called through our Baptism to be part of the Church’s missionary efforts, through prayer, self-sacrifice, and support of the Mission Church through material aid.
