Westside Improvement Project

Last month, Metro Bike Share began a regional improvement project on the Westside. Metro Bike Share service on the Westside is temporarily suspended while the updates are being made. The project is expected to be completed by January 2021, and the first batch of bikes and stations may be redeployed as soon as late October.

These system updates will allow us to unify the Westside and DTLA/Central LA service areas, simplify the rider experience, and introduce Electric Metro Bikes to the Westside. Once the upgrades are made, riders will be able to ride and dock Metro Bikes and Electric Metro Bikes at any of the over 200+ stations in the DTLA, Central LA and the Westside regions!

Metro Art x dublab – Deep Routes Rebroadcast with Metro Bike livestream!

Episode 6: Frogtown, Music at the River’s Edge – Monday 10/19, 2pm

Metro Art celebrated Bike Month in September with three new episodes of Deep Routes with dublab building upon the ongoing series that started in July. Deep Routes is a multimedia dive into the intersecting musical histories embedded into the streets, buildings, and neighborhoods of Los Angeles as seen from a Metro Bike.  On October 19, Metro Art and dublab will rebroadcast Deep Routes Episode 6 with the accompanying live stream bike rides previously postponed due to unpredictable air quality from the Bobcat Fire.

Frogtown, Music at the River’s Edge is a vivid first-person narrative that traverses history, sound and memory with record collector, cultural historian and Frogtown native Ruben Molina sharing stories from his youth in the Frogtown neighborhood of Los Angeles. Ruben’s compelling narrative touches down in various Los Angeles River-adjacent neighborhoods and is propelled by a music soundtrack that creates a compelling portrait of a special place and time in Los Angeles.

Episodes 4-6 of Deep Routes were made possible by a mini-grant through the Southern California Association of Governments’ Go Human program, funded by the CA Office of Traffic Safety. The episodes traversed music geographies accessible via Metro Rail, Bus and Bike: the Sunset Strip west from the B Line (Red), Hyperion Blvd. in Silver Lake, and the future Los Angeles River Path project connecting  Elysian Valley to Maywood.
