Hello friend, how are you this lovely first of October?

When building a shop or launching a product there's always a wee battle: do I follow my head or my heart? My head says listen to the market, in my case perhaps looking at my most popular photographs on Instagram and seeing what people have responded to. But my heart says to create a lasting print of my favorite photographs, of ones that spoke to me and had a deeper meaning. Ultimately I believe that people will respond to your passion. When you share something you care about they can feel that. When you share something "safe" that feels like a "sure bet" then they also sense your hesitation and lack of heart. So this month I'm launching my second folklore pack full of prints I love and have deep meaning for me, but not my most popular photographs from the last year.

Each print is inspired by a different folklore or legend, I'll be explaining each on Patreon and my blog in detail, so I won't be too repetitive here, but I will share the meaning behind the first print. Gather ye wood anemone why ye may. This photograph was inspired by Pre-Raphaelite paintings and the old superstition that wood anemone could protect against diseases.
I was watching the woods transform with the star-shaped flowers in spring just as we entered a global pandemic and that old lore felt especially significant. Ancient people would make garlands out of the flower, saying "I gather this against all diseases" before draping it over the neck of someone ill. Making my own garland and flower crown of wood anemone felt like tapping into that ancient practice and understanding the hope and superstition that fed it.

This collection of prints is available via Pre-Order for the next two weeks for £30. Typically my prints are in stock in my shop for £40, but these are pre-order and will be ordered based on demand after the sale period. If you love a print order it now at the discounted price.

All the best,
Rebecca
