Message from DG Jason Long
District 14-M Lions,
Summer is behind us and the first quarter of the Lions year is already passed. Things are very busy right now in District 14-M, and that is a good thing. Many of our clubs have resumed meeting and are moving forward with serving their communities. Clubs that are not yet meeting in person should consider meeting virtually on Zoom or a similar application. The website for Zoom has a lot of information as well as tutorials for how to host and conduct an online meeting. I also have experience hosting and attending Zoom meetings, and I am available for advice on how to set up a meeting. Best of all, a club can have a 40-minute meeting on Zoom at no cost!
Your District GAT has a number of events ongoing and planned for the benefit of all members in the district. We currently have a project running to collect items to be shipped to Louisiana to help victims of hurricane Laura. Please see the flier in this newsletter for more information. While collection of the requested items is preferred, monetary donations my be directed to LCIF through LCIF District Coordinator PDG Joseph Palli or to the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation through our District Representative PDG Ed Gursky. Please be sure to note on the check that the funds are for Louisiana Disaster Relief. We have also planned a District 14-M GAT Symposium to be held October 24 at the Fayette County Blind Association in Uniontown and an identical program on October 31 at the Somerset Lions Club Building. The Multiple District 14 GAT Fall Symposium is taking place on October 18 in Greensburg. Fliers for both events are also included in this newsletter. These events are open to all Lions, Lioness, and Leos. I have also scheduled in coordination with our District GMT Coordinator PDG Rich Tinsmith and the Multiple District 14 GMT Coordinator PDG Cheryl Wilbur from district 14-G a New Member Orientation Program. This program will be held on November 15 from 2-4 P.M. at the Fayette County Blind Association in Uniontown. The event is open for all new members who have joined in the past year and their sponsors. A flier for this program is also in this newsletter.
Club visits by the DG Team are ongoing. During these visits, I am learning how our clubs have been creative and “thinking outside the box” in finding new ways to meet, raise funds, and most importantly serve their communities during these difficult times. I congratulate you for your creativity and for continuing to move forward in carrying out our motto We Serve. I am also encouraged to see clubs continue to recruit new members. Remember that LCI has waived the $35 initiation fee for all new members as well as the $20 transfer fee for all transfer members through December 31, 2020. I look forward to continuing to visit clubs and meet with the great Lions of District 14-M. In the meantime, stay healthy, stay safe, and keep moving forward!
Yours in Service,
DG Jason Long

Message from 1st VDG Karl Jackson
Hello all Lions
Thankful, while society is still somewhat inactive, the Pennsylvania Lion Clubs are still being active in serving their fellowmen. The clubs we have visited with the DG, Jason Long, have been very enjoyable. Thank you to all the clubs that sent me their reports. We are sending out prayers to all the suffering families during this trying time. Continue to stay safe. I was surprised! Thank you for the Lions of PA Foundation Fellow Award. Very appreciative.
Yours in service

Message from 2nd VDG Bernie Fox
Hello to all.
We are still wearing our masks and trying to stay distant in trying to protect us against the corona virus. We hope this will be over soon, but until it is, we will just continue our practice.
It appears that more clubs are making attempts at meeting, whether it is in person or by zoom, etc. It’s really good that we have these options.
As you will notice in reading these reports, more clubs are beginning to attempt fundraising. So kudos to you all.
This is all I have this month. Stay safe and be kind to others.
2nd VDG Bernie Fox

September Club Reports
Berlin Lions Club – Sept Club Report
The Berlin Lions Club held their monthly meeting on 4 Sept. During the month, the Berlin Lions supported the Red Cross blood drive, where 31 units of blood were collected. The club prepared to send out our annual Lions donation support request. With the support of the Berlin girl’s junior high volleyball team, we prepared 3,000 donation request letters for the mailing. We also presented to the Berlin District School our Lions contribution of $2500. Next month we will hold our annual “Butchered Hog” raffle, however, this year there is no Butchered Hog. The raffle will be 500 tickets (with two numbers), with a winning number holder receiving $500. Also, on Oct 12th, we will be honoring the Somerset County EMS crews with a steak dinner. Our way of saying “Thank You” for their dedication and public service.

NAMI
NORTH AMERICA MEMBERSHIP INITIATIVE (NAMI)
This program is designed to reverse the decline in Lions membership.
The program is authorized by LCI. Our DG has asked me to be the District NAMI champion or team leader. I will be working with the Governor’s team.
You will hear more about NAMI as time goes on. I would like to come to the Region/ Zone meetings if we can have them. Also, I will be sending out information to 14M clubs on membership.
There is a Lioness bridge program that is being used this year. I will be sending out information to the Lioness clubs and the sponsoring clubs regarding this.
Looking forward to working with everyone this year on maintaining current members and obtaining new ones.
Rich Tinsmith
PDG/GMT coordinator
