1. FAMILY PROMISE WEEK
October 18th-25th

Family Promise Affiliates across the country will celebrate Family Promise week from October 18-25. The purpose of this week is to increase awareness of the issue of family homelessness and thank you - our volunteers, donors, supporters, and community leaders!

During this week we celebrate your involvement in the work we all do every day – preventing families from becoming homeless, sheltering those in crisis, and stabilizing families so they are no longer at risk.

We hope you will participate in one of the many ways we celebrate Family Promise Week:

  • October 17: Winter Clothing Drive 9-11 am (First Emmanuel UCC, Dousman)
  • October 20:Volunteer Coordinator Meeting
  • October 21: Poverty Simulation/Discussion on Homelessness (Facebook Live) 6:30 pm
  • October 24: Winter Clothing Drive 9-11 am (Day Center in Waukesha)
  • October 24: Tour New Family Resource Center (by appointment only- each tour is limited to five participants, masks required)

2. COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Recently Family Promise of Waukesha County implemented Covid-19 safety protocols for our staff at the Family Resource Center. We also wanted to share our expectations and procedures with visitors. Please know due to Covid-19 we are doing the following:

  • Accepting visitors by appointment only. Please call before visiting. (262-968-2321)

  • All visitors are to wear a mask or face covering. If you forget or do not have one – one will be provided. Please wear your mask properly, covering both your mouth and nose.

  • We limit the number of people in the building.

  • We will reserve offices for staff as their space. Meetings will take place in the conference room.

  • Please disinfect bathrooms after use.

  • If you have contracted, been exposed to or have symptoms of Covid-19 please delay your visit to Family Promise of Waukesha County.

Our goal is to keep YOU safe, keep our staff safe, and to keep our families safe.  We would not want to inadvertently be the cause of a family losing work because they had to quarantine, or we transmitted the virus to them. We are all in this together.

Thank you for your care for all those we serve.

5. THE ORIGINALS

A few weeks ago, we included a message of thanks to all those who came before us. It was heartwarming to receive these photos of those who were originally involved in the planning and developing of Family Promise of Waukesha County. Sue Nickel wrote about those early days,  “Yes, there were sleepless nights, lots of anguish and physical stress!  But the group that laid the foundation were a gift from God!”

Amen!
