Hands Free is the New Way to Be!

We are in a new era where we are searching for solutions and reduce the need to touch surfaces - especially in public. That is why we want to draw your attention back to our innovative foot pedestal design. Originally appearing in our classic Beselt Receptacle now it is available in six Wishbone Waste Receptacle Designs. This design addresses all the user groups from landscape architects, contractors, maintenance crews, through to end-users. The one-of-a-kind pedal mechanism provides a hands-free experience for the user and closes tightly enough to prevent most critters such as squirrels and birds from accessing the interior.

This type of product innovation is at the very core of what Wishbone is all about. Making life easier and public spaces more comfortable and enjoyable for all. Contact our team for your next public site furnishing installation and go hands free!

Feature Project: Bridge to Bay Musical Parklet

Project: Bridge to Bay Musical Parklet
Client: City of Marine City, Michigan

This recently completed project was named after the county wide Bridge-to-Bay Pedestrian Trail System.

Wishbone was thrilled to take part in the development of this parklet. During the planning and design phase of Spring 2019, we began the process of suggesting a ‘feature’ piece of site furniture that would complement the overall layout.

Very soon we settled on our modular, Curved Skyline Bench to lend the project a unique aesthetic without going over budget.

The focus was on a great fit for the space, functionality for all user groups, easy maintenance, and long-term performance. Two of our Skyline Curved benches combine to form a wave shape – kind of like a soundwave!

The entire project was made possible through grant funds through KABOOM! (https://kaboom.org/) and the Play Everywhere challenge which encourages individuals of all ages to incorporate play in their everyday lives.

We were graciously provided these amazing photos of the completed project and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Here’s some feedback directly from the City:

“The City is extremely pleased with the quality and design of the bench seating and the customer service was outstanding.  We have received several compliments from residents regarding the design of the bench, which is a perfect fit for the space!”

- Michele E. Goodrich, City of Marine City

Introducing: The Bayview Hexagonal Picnic Table

The honeybee's ingenious honeycomb shape has been used for thousands of years. The Bayview hexagonal picnic table takes its design cues from this ensuring it never goes out of style! While the table shape is ancient and organic, it still brings with it a fresh and modern style that will withstand the rigors of heavy-use and whatever the environment throws at it. By using low-maintenance recycled plastic and aluminum materials, this design as well resists wear and corrosion ensuring years of trouble-free use. The large seating capacity seats six people comfortably, making it a perfect place to picnic with pals. Slip into your seat; there is plenty of space to allow for easy access to the table. The table can be free-standing or bolted down depending on the location. The umbrella hole with a locking mechanism, makes sure that your umbrella doesn’t blow away in a wind gust. From the queen bee to the worker bee and to the baby bee, this design gets everyone together!

Solutions for the Future from Pieces of the Past

Another busy month turning recycled materials into sustainable site furnishings. In August 2020 we finally hit a major milestone recycling over 4 Million lbs of materials that would have otherwise ended up in landfills. Every month we track how much plastics and metal we are reusing. This has been at the forefront of our business mission and we are so excited to see the results climbing on a monthly basis!
