SAGE 100 NEWS AND INFORMATION
One More Reason To Upgrade to Sage 100 2020
If you've installed the latest Sage payroll update you may have seen that Sage wants to synchronize some workstation files the first time a user logs into the system. Ordinarily, this is a fast process with one catch.
Prior to Sage 100 2020, the user needed local administrative rights to their computer or they would be prompted with a login.
Thankfully, this changed in Sage 100 2020, Some of the sync files were moved to a location on the local computer which no longer requires administrative rights to install/update.
Sage 100 Open API Builder ( Video )
I'm not sure if Sage meant to post this publicly but this video appears to show an Open API builder for use in creating integration points to the Microsoft Power Platform. I've no idea if this has already been released or is pending future release date. Have a look here.
How to Setup Employee Tax Deferral in Sage 100 Payroll
Via Sage:
The IRS emphasized the employee social security tax deferral postponement is optional and while nothing bars an employer from considering employee input, the employer remains the "Affected Taxpayer" and is not required to use the relief even upon an employee's request.
As an employer, there may be accounting and legal considerations to take into consideration. We highly recommend talking with your CPA or financial advisor before deciding to defer payroll taxes, as the regulations are evolving.
Read more here ( full implementation requires Payroll 2.20.3 )
This form is not acceptable for 3rd quarter filings, check back periodically for updates when processing the 2020Q3 941 form in Federal and State Tax Reporting
Several payroll users noticed they received a message about the 941 form not being ready for filing Q3 taxes. Sage says this is ok to skip by with the following notes:
The form will be updated after the form is released by the IRS.
In the interim, if you are on Payroll version 2.x, you are allowed to process payroll for the next quarter without closing the current quarter. The user's role must have the option in Tab 3, Module Options under Payroll 'Allow Out of Quarter Check Date' selected.
If you are on legacy (version 2017 and prior) payroll, you must close the current quarter before processing the next quarter payroll.
In either version, the 941 data will be retained for printing later.
